Polemic Pudding

By fc on November 30, 2014 11:56 pm

I was going back through some older stuff and really enjoyed my click~ based work. So I added some sine waves. Used OpenMusic to create a set of six rhythms, though I'm not sure how well they translated to MIDI. Screenshot example of the type (I think it was set 3).
Then the entire form is based on two full repetitions of each large scale polyrhythm (3:2 with absurd subdivisions therein), of each set of sounds.

http://www.vgiles.net/rambling/abc-clas … c-up-late/ <-- please read.

If I had the space, I would re-work this into a much longer installation piece for lots of speakers with subs.

Also the title comes from our new Victorian overlord, who loves pudding: http://youtu.be/1bOSpJjM0RE]PUDDING

Nice. W/a bit of bass would work well as an installation piece. What was the feedback from your tower installation?

I checked out your (very cogent) letter site. The petition link doesn't seem to be working (as an Auslander, I probably wouldn't be eligible to sign it anyway) :-(

There's quite a lot of bass! Though very "kick"y rather than constant. Glad you like it.

Tower installation was received well, though plagued with technical problems as people kept turning it off/down and whatnot. But yep, went pretty well!

Maybe the change.org thing is geo-limited to Australia? The link is working for me.

I'm definitely a fan of clicks.  They work so well spatially.  My last live set contained elements of click/glitch rhythms but your track has definitely clicked mine to death!   haha.   Lovely solitary panning at the end.

The proof is in the $240 worth of pudding

Sounds good to me. I haven't looked at OM yet, clearly I should!

Yeah I am into clicks too. Short pulses without adjustable duration are awesome.

Took me a long time to get the hang of, but it's amazing.

clicks are always nice to have smile I admire your very technical approaches to music. Even your desktop looks absolutely structured. wink

Hah! Yes, I do love structure. In fact, I think structure (and I'm quite interested in what would be called "complex" structures) are one of most engaging parts about music.

Very interesting from a technical point of view, but most importantly: musically very, very good! Faved!

Lost in clicks smile
I feel like a crispy bacon now.
Very good work.

whoa that got intense!

Thanks very much. Yes, the ultimate goal is musicality! smile
