Noise Prelude I (Insomnia)

By fc on June 22, 2014 11:34 pm

Last minute. Didn't sleep much last night. Feeling like crap. All Ableton Live. Minimal materials, gotta love 'em.

That's pretty active insomnia. As always, well outside the comfort zone smile

I went to bed at like 11pm, got to sleep at about 6am, woke up at 8:30am to write this for a 10am deadline. Glad you like it!

visceral, dark, insomniac feel. would make for a great experimental film soundtrack movement. I like the subdued distortion/noise that ebbs in at times... really gives a breadth to the piece. nice work.

Visceral - nice! I like visceral. I would also like to do some experimental film scoring. Thanks for listening and enjoying, George!

Great track man.  A nice change from your max/msp madness  smile  I was watching this when I was listening to it.  Worked a treat!

Thanks man. I'm gonna do a series like this I think.

That owl video is great. The suspense is amazing.

Cool.

And yeah, that gaze is INTENSE!!  haha

Really enjoyed it. Great last minute work!

There is a lot of space in there, created by the interplay of noise, tonal material, and, well, silence. Fascinating. Hope you will sleep soon!

its an interesting coincidence that I have come to this as I am trying to get to sleep...

... a most abstract lullaby...

spectacularly bizarre...

serenly chaotic

The space/silence interplay is something I've not (seemingly) done for quite a long time. So that was enjoyable. Interesting - on the tonal material front - I forced it to adhere to an Eb half-diminished scale, and wrote gesture instead. The noisy part is a kind of Schoenbergian chord.

Sleep is eluding us all apparently. Thank you for your comments. smile

I need to start skipping sleep if it will help me make stuff like this. smile

Just let it happen naturally, don't force it. wink

Oh man, this is perfect

Perfect, you say? Very kind of you.

Love the sense of minimalism and the contrast of silences and bursts of noise, great work!
