Insomnia (Parts 1 and 2)

By fc on June 26, 2014 12:03 pm

Continuing on literally from last week, and my bout of serious insomnia. This week I've slept mostly well, you'll be pleased to know.

I wanted to continue the work from last week, turning it into a longer set of pieces. Last week's functioning as a prelude, this being parts 1 and 2, next I'll work on an interlude, then parts 3 and 4, and so on. I've no idea if the interlude will be my next submission though.

Intriguing as always! I especially like the manipulation of the vocal in part 2 (now I'll have to check out out the original).

Glad to hear the title is now art, and not life smile

Cheers Jim! Thanks also for that ccmixter site; really useful for doing this kind of thing! Much more so than freesound.org smile

Good thing you've shaken the insomnia.  Nice job on the voice, I could barely tell it was a voice.  Insomnia, indeed.

Most things are more digestible as art than in real life. Fine piece, sir! I am getting more and more curious about your sourcing of ancient sound files. Very inspiring. Happy halftime!

Thanks Edmund. Glad I could mystify a little!

Dankeschön! I guess that is part of what makes art what it is, right? I'm glad you like it. These files aren't ancient at all, or at least, if they are, I don't know about it! Happy halftime to you too, Herr Grey.

Wicked track dude, love the dissonant aesthetic with the syncopated beats.

Ta!

808 in full effect.  Love that dark and dense cloud that oppresses the track intermittently.  The chopped vocals work nicely within also.  Very cool.

But a 707 snare! Thanks man. Tried to expand on last week's one! I love choppy vocals.

Ahhh yes.  I was mostly focused on the kick.  I have the 808 rig in modular format so I know it too well.  I'm thinking of upgrading to the 909 module.  More parameters to tweak.  big_smile

The work with that voice is intriging and eerie... And those metalic textures, man... Disturbing and delicate at times. Nice!

Great track, love that kick sound smile and the voice adds a very nice extra dimension to the track.
