A Day That Never Comes

Wanted to make something special for week 26! I was not sure I’d get around to it due to a bad week, but the last couple days I got some gusto back. This is an unapologetically hopeful song with lots of flanger use. Yes, there are a couple things I’d like to change, but I tried to look at a loudness meter to make sure this song stayed within a range. The audio file actually has contour!

I’ll admit the middle chunk of this song made me really emotional while writing it. Something about the weirdly out of tune flute melody gets me in the feels. Each of the 3 main sections I think turned out super cool, barring a few weird transitions. Had to pull out a 31/32 groove at the end when the energy picks up LOL. I think this song finally hits the well I’ve been trying to hit since my week 2 song. Hope you enjoy, and we’re halfway there!

Very cool use of the "fluted" synth on the M8. Sounds super distorted.

if you threw in the lick from katamari damacy, this could easily be one of the later stages where you get big enough to roll up clouds and satellites. awesome stuff

This beat is such a journey. I too really like the tender flute middle part especially

Absolutely love how the percussion enters around the 2 minute mark like a hard rain on glass windows ... and then just shatters through in the most beautiful way, and then the organ comes in and geez... all the feels heart Every week I am astounded by what you do on the M8, btw, this is truly exceptional. Happy halfway!

Love the last part when everything is building up and turning mental, the odd signature really keeps you on your toes.
One of these track I'd love to remix if I had the skills, ha ha.
Great job!

Cool to hear how your mixing has been improving this year. The main beat with pitched percussion is gorgeous. The opening to that second part somehow hit me in the feels too with that detuned flute. Such a beautiful section where it just floats for a bit before the drums come back in. The unusual drum sounds give it an IDM vibe, sounds like rain sounds. Beautiful. The 31/32 part feels like a bad loop at first, but when the arp enters it all starts to make sense until we accelerate beyond lightspeed. Holy fuck what a buildup, only to end up right where it started.
Amazing work dude. Incredible.

love me some flute warbles - and the arps are cool - track feels like a record skip in a cool way

congrats on the halfway mark!

as i said on discord, this is truly badass. i love when i hear music that i don't quite understand, but still moves my on an emotional and physical level.

^^ this. really well said.
that part is actual magic. and then the ending... wtf
excited to hear more from you

Hell yeah, happy halfway! Can relate to getting at something attempted at a previous week (my week 26 feels like finally caught what week 1 was reaching at). The flute hits hard and works really well. Holy crap and then the end is like dropping a bomb

hope your next week improves - this track is sure full of some nice gusto even if you were not wink
that change in the movement is very touching & emotional - really like the sounds
& how you brought it all around
