wanted to try a hip hop type track this week. something simple: analog drum samples, a little loose, some pitched vocal sample, maybe a piano line.

went back to week 5 for some sample inspo, and came across

whose title caught my eye. really liked what i heard so downloaded and played with the sample to find some parts to flip. give the original a listen! it's great.

it started hip hop-esque, but then got this weird (classic me!) twist of some arps, and mangled pitch stuff.
had to do it all in 2-3 hours.

The minimalism works well here. Each of the parts has plenty of room to breathe. Not too overcrowded.

Enjoying the arps, glockenspiel-esque layering and tape stop/effect type stuff here. Sounds like it was a fun 2-3 hours!
