Riddle & Stump

Used the Meris Enzo pedal with guitar on this, live bass. The track was made using an online sequencer from a guy on Discord in another group.

I want to know what you see when you close your eyes and listen to this song (not while driving, plz)

I didn't have any huge backlog of emotions to get out with this one. Just had fun. I love a clean, punchy bass. I mute the hell out of my bass with foam and one of those neck mute things. I want you to have to listen actively to catch the small details, but not so hidden you never notice it... The things I spend maybe an hour on that you will only hear for less than five seconds of your life. I'm SO exited that this got in your eardrums. Really cool that you took the time to listen and possibly read this far.

...ok I guess I did feel like rambling. This site and the Discord is helping me absolutely CRUSH 2026 with kindness and love. I don't have to search for good vibes - they are right here. It feels like I'm at a festival where everyone is just looking to groove to a good tune. Love it and love you all very much! Looking forward to the weeks to come.

The bass sounds really warm. Does the mute help with that.

In terms of visuals
I'm on an alien planet and every time the "do" type synth plays a little alien that looks like a snowth pops up and says "doot". The planet is green with a pink sky if that helps.

I'm fairly certain all the muting on the bass is what makes it warm like that. No effects or plug ins on that one. That and some half round strings.

And thank you for listening 🙃 I did feel an alien planet vibe with this. I hear the pink skies are lovely this time of year!

Boom! Mad texture

Lovely smooth bass. I really like the busier percussion over the top as a counterpoint, and even with the faster percussion the track stays nice & relaxed.

Relaxing, nice and chilly.

I'm glad it wasn't too much. Sometimes I have to force myself to simplify. The clean bass made that easier, since I needed it to cut through the mix more.

I always loved songs that have exactly this. It's like spreading creamy peanut butter on a cactus. You just gotta make it real smooth so you don't get poked.
