W48 - We're Sorry Demo / Reactive Network

Discussed view that I may not share the same level of enthusiasm for intimate content as others. Told views on family closely resemble my Vietnamese heritage rather then my other side. Examined more with Shrink about these themes. Feels alienating. Met with M to work on DO. Blocked out set ideas and themes. Built narrative and visual bases to work with Saw Horse. Excited about direction. Less Delorean and more Overdrive. Feeling empowered. Thanks Giving with family. Drove out to home with AL. Brother's wife was sick. Could not attend. Sent love. Long talks with cousins and aunts. Older cousins doing well. Different paths but good. Shared a lot about why I have kept making music over the years and they were curious about my journey. Younger cousins doing well. Talked about thing effecting their lives. Tried to acknowledge their progress and encourage them. Youngest a bit avoidant. Tried to challenge and point them to opportunities without pushing them too hard. Very proud of all of them. Late talk with VTC about their new relationship with G. Proud of them and understand the personality change. Showing their best side. Helping another person sort through similar experiences with death in marriage. Talked about intimacy and how age effects it. Advised as best I could. They may not see the positive change or acknowledge difference but I do. Met with wife's Family and had hot pot outside in the garden. Younger cousin reached out for opinions on table top games smile A pleasant surprise. Anxiety for youngest cousin and discussion on mental development with AL. Family history. Trying to build family solidarity for when Aunts may pass. Waiting on contract stuff. Enjoying CostCo experiences with wife for no reason. Enjoying a bit of shit posting on blue sky. Reddit trash AITA videos. Meeting with band as usual on Sunday. Too much food. Fully Off of health restrictions for the holidays. Fixed bike after riding to AL's parents. Seems to be helping with knee joints with supplements. Reviewed old music I made and listened to old records from highschool. Noticed an interest through line all the way to current time. Substantial, edge pushing, body related, and singular vision. Talked about philosophy and believed hypothesis about human experiences with AL and how it informs world view. Black Friday enterprise and voyager box sets. Love sharing DS9. Read Jodey Kendrick Igloo interview and identified with that a lot. Ghost from my past on IG run in. Shared movie obsessions from childhood with wife.

First song made for upcoming Magfest live set. Full song is 3 minutes but upload cut down for personal reasons. Inspiration aiming for a big beat style stretched. A Come To Daddy angle. Percussion with be live and more improvisational with our drummer and vocal layer will be sorted by the vocalist. Built out simple generative garnish for the track (not heard in upload) to help keep tracks different at the live show. A lot of live tweaking an ableton dub siren preset instrument and recording it. Mixed with previously made samples made to glitch. Working on drum samples for drummer's sample pad in "New Breaks 2024" ableton file. Original break made November 5 while creating new breaks for use with M8. Time Stretched versions included.

Second song is a excerpt of a recording of a reactive randomized network. Built around a series of chained effect sends feeding back into each other. Laptop microphone captures sounds of apartment and feeds the network. Making a sound in the room of the microphone changes the atmospheric sounds output.

Damn this moves hard!

Love the "airy" synths on top that add some lightness to the pretty intense track.

Interesting finale with the "breath" Fun stuff!

Looove the beat and how crunchy things are in We're Sorry. Huge energy, really feels great. Reactive Network is craaazy, and very unsettling when played loudly lol.

rocking out to first half, yeah all right, such a GOOD groove
then

OMG THERE'S A DEMON IN MY HEAD WTFFFFFFF

Glad the intention is coming across smile I was thinking of We're Sorry like when a house party gets a little too wild and things start breaking. I clipped just the first section but the later half has a chatoic break down and generative glitches I was quite happy with. Looking forward to how it will sound with my bandmates adding their talents to it. Aiming for Firstarter by the Prodigy and Come to Daddy by Aphex Twin vibes mixed with our production style.

The second song is all just experimenting stuff. I used to be really into reactive installation art when I was a student (too many years ago). I was attempting some of this same things I did back then in the box. I've always liked the idea of creating something that abstracts our senses of the real world. I used to think it was a useful way to challenge how others might perceive the world. Basically it's a lot of "mental masturbation", as my form philosophy teacher used to say tongue Sometimes its just fun to get weird I guess smile

Thanks for listening guys! It's late in the year and it's cool that there are even people around to still commenting heart I told myself I'd go for the full 52 weeks again this year. It's very encouraging and cool to be doing it in such good and talented company.

Dig the energy of this one which then falls into a pit of hell.  I approve of all.  Hah.
