Married this week smile City Hall with VTC, AL, T, L, P, SL, and KL. exchanged day of rings, signed papers, and took some photos. Confusion over social media post made by VTC. Corrections made. Lunch with parents. Dinner with friends. Board game with friends and later family. Off of keto struggling with adjustment. Bike rides across town to pick up meals and shop. Combined ancestral celebration with family in Sacramento. AC and T not able to come. Ill. Drop off care package. Drove EL back to college. Improv musical podcast. Shared pronouns. Encourage cousins to vote. Family well. G came with VTC. Uncle struggling with health. Tried on traditional Vietnamese clothes. Walked around neighbor hood with wife on halloween. Watched the families and their kids. Local teacher band playing to halloween crowd. Had dinner and talked. Dropped off mail in ballot. Decompressed from social week. Happy but was tired.

Track was brute forced into existence (like last week). Struggled to complete but needed to finish before weekend. Needs to be cleaned up and simplified. Not enough breathing room. Recorded in one take. M8's Braids Pluck seems to have an issue. Phases in and out. Not sure why. Didn't bother to properly mix. Recorded live stereo out of M8. Audio - Pulse2 & S-1>Elektron CK-1 Audio/CV Split Cable Kit>M8>DR-40. Midi - M8>Headphone slitter>Pulse2 & S-1. Pulse2 lost at the practice space since before pandemic and last Magfest performance with DO (pre pandemic). Brought back a few months now. First time using in a while. Been meaning to explore it again. Under utilized. Happy with the results. Paraphony not working with M8. Used for bass instead. Cold and precise analog sound. Tried to keep agressive high energy for the track. Was the only goal along with time line. Sorted out over 3 days.


Started additional track called "Evil Children" based on the Evil At Play sample. Made simple patch in 208hp eurorack and sorted packing strategy for Magfest 2025. 3 voice proof of concept. Tested in Bastl Bestie. Not worth recording. Mother 32 tuning external oscillators sorted. Used M8 to process noise sweep channel with reverb. Rig will need an additional input for the new eurorack. Effect box? Suggest to MT clean vox mic with Delay pedal to tweak and space out for hype (thinking of parnoid london performance and 808 state live). Geogrio Moroder redbull NY opening and intro? That was 2012-ish?


Edit: Created second song this week. Will tag on end of next week's track. Filename: "W44 - Mail" Ableton, W44-Mail" M8. Dirtywave M8, Roland S-1, Boss DD-6, Tascam DR-40, iphone. Made on couch during evening while winding down from the week. Reverb reverse in ableton for intro. 80ms, 1 FB, 1 DT, 50% dry. Started by playing with my first pedal out of curiosity. Sampled layers of recordings I made from phone. Mostly of sounds heard around my apartment and town.

That beat! A lot of energy in there, and it contrasts well with the slow pads around it. I liked how everything went down at 1:53, it was a nice effect, like a short breath before the beat propuslses us back.

Love the immediate high energy feel from the drums in this.  Like I just got on a high speed rail and there's no stopping it.  The kick in this has such a nice oomph to it in the mix.  Some RDJ vibes in the frenetic feel and how the drums drop and poof the acidline flies.  Hail yais! My brain did dance \m/

Delightful. Tremendously busy at times and then descends into melodic clarity, single notes, pure anticipatory silence, really really awesome work.

Wow you had a big week, congrats! This song feels like a soundtrack a to a busy bustling life, but one handled with confidence and style. A lot going, but sounding crisp and clean.

I really like when it gets a little spacey in the middle, balances so well with the powerful drumming.

the space in some of these sounds is amazing. the tick tick tick at the start of the tune i literally thought was coming from outside my headphones. had to play it a couple of times to check. are you using some kind of spatial panning?

Thank you! The 1:53 Mark is when the waldorf really kicks in. Underrated synth IMHO.

I've been working to shorten those intro times when I can. I feel like it's a funner listen sometimes rather then slowly building things up as I traditionally do. I was really surprise how well the Woldorf handled the acid duties smile It was pleasant surprise. Glad I could get your brain moving tongue

I've traced the ticking sound. YOU NEED TO GET OUT OF THERE RN!

Been a while. I don't have the song in front of me rn but the tick sounds like a velocity ramp on a repeating tambourine sample with a bit of stereo chorus on it. The delay from the chorus makes it have psychoacoustic effect that can sound like open air room acoustics and wider in the stereo field  smile

Thank you and thank you! The drama revolves around overly social media zealous witnesses carelessly sharing photos and declarations out. A lot of family members were surprised to find out there was a wedding they weren't invited to and it hurt some feelings and confused them. A lot of people wanted to send gifts and money too.

We are planning an actual wedding celebration with family and friends in 2025 and were viewing this as more of a step in that direction that took some pressure off of us and would help in the tax season. My wife also didn't want to be married during what was potentially (now actually) a Trump administration.

I had to do a lot of wrangling and apologizing to reset expectations and clarify the confusion. Not too upset about it now because I know it came out of excitement for us. It was just a bit of chaos and was frustrating not being the ones to share our news how we wanted it. Hard to coordinate with big families some times.
