W21 - Glitch and Acid Modular Test

By ENC_ on May 29, 2022 9:59 am

I put together a new modular setup by shifting some of my modules into a smaller and more focused configuration in my 84hp case. Previously I had built I had used the case to house a more aggressive mono synth aimed to imitate some of Mick Gordon's production techniques used in the Doom 2016 soundtrack. The idea for the new case layout was to create a portable companion I could use to tinker with diverse analog sounds and glitched modulations with my mutable instrument oscillators. I was quite happy with the results and did a quick test run with M8. The improvised session is hopefully the first of many with this rig.

The modular is producing an acid voice (starts at 01:19) and generative glitch percussion (starts at 00:30) by randomizing CV into Plaits using sample and hold and Turing Machines shift register. The rest was made with M8 in live mode after sampling and synthesizing some bits and bobs.

I've been busy enjoying some time off with my partner but was happy I could squeak this together. I had been thinking about skipping this week.

I posted an image of the setup on Twitter if you are curious
