Early week upload. Little to document. Submitted email for substitute teaching district requirements and awaiting response. Reading PKD shorts.

Updated:
LC's b-day dinner and hangout. Took P out to throw some poppers in the front yard. Sat on the steps throwing out the entire box.  Can't speak yet but, expressing opinions. Worked on puzzles w/ him at the restraunt so mom and dad could eat. Received response, working on paperwork. Transcripts needed. KB shared news of pregnancy w/ class. They were very excited for him. Organized gifts on their own and filled his white board w/ suggested names. Very heart warming to see, reminder of the joys of working w/ kids. Looking forward to doing it again. Rave history deep dive again. Cut samples and uploaded to digitakt. Made another song and started another. Decided not to upload. Will work on. it more maybe used for next week.

Fill out media section later. Heading to Thai Buddhist Temple.

Short and sweet... Nostalgic for old Casio SA-35 keyboard. Found samples from SA-10 online (uses same chips and sounds). Used in Renoise to make melodic parts of track first (20 minutes on 4_25_26). Sampled emulated Atari 2600 games while playing them. Not a gamer. After years of chiptune in the 2000's-10's learned to appreciate older gaming tech and some games. Soft spot for the 2600's simplicity and sounds. Made a small library of 2600 samples. Used for drums. TR-8 library from previous weeks used with a Sine recorded through the hifi reciever from last week. Chopped sample from 70's funk playlist on youtube. Finished rest of song on the 27th after collecting samples over a few days. spent about 2 hours on and off tinking with things. Trying to explore more digital sample based music away from usual synth workflows.

Clean and quick. Sounds like a Metalheadz or early Photek-style track. Love that.

Love the atari samples and laid back breaks.  Listened twice for double the good vibes! \m/

Loving the cleab punchiness of the breaks, sits well with casio chords.

Casio keys are so well mixed on this, it took me a second play to spot them. Love the hats, love the pitched kicks around 1:10, really like the panned lo-fi snares throughout. A song of calm concentration

really dig these Casio TONES!

Oh man, what a vibe! The crunchy drums vs the restrained pads are soooooo classy. Love it!

EXPLOSIONS THEN SICK BEATS. Count me in.

Strangely have not listened to either artist in my life tongue I've heard them mentioned before in passing. It's a sign I should check them out smile

heart IDK why but the 2600 called to me for some reason. I am happy it did. It was a fun sampling session and I found some games that I actually quite enjoyed. Beamrider was a stand out. I've been playing since.

I was happy with how this one came out. I think it captured the playfulness I was feeling in the moment. The samples did the heavy lifting TBH. Those Casio samples were excellent building blocks. If you look into the keyboard's sound architecture for the SA series, it's actually quite inspiring for how they generate their patches. I tried to emulate some of that here with renoise's modulations over the casio samples. It abstracts them a bit too. The break was also a choice find. Sometimes things line up when you least expect it.

Aye!!! I get the reference! I need to dig out my old tape recordings from when I was super inspired by that guys early stuff. I'm sure I'll both embarrassed at my execution but, nostalgic of late nights recording in my old apartment and bedroom. That's how things go a lot these days smile
