W14 - 4_2_26 General selection

Played 2 shows with Delorean overdrive back to back nights. First set, small hiccups. Second felt tighter w/ better monitoring. Happy not to drive around have late nights for a while. Re-thinking Eurorack setup for live shows. Presentation is confusing for audiences sometimes w/ it's layout. Tilt forward? keyed synth? Actual 303 for later sections? Percussion trigger? Nice hanging w/ music friends at shows. Also nice chilling in the green rooms and talking to other bands between sets. Got to talk w/ Bit Brigade members and Ollie Wilder's team about setups, touring, and general not comparisons. Nice to see them play too. Probably favorite part about playing is interacting with other bands and talking shop.

Moving on to personal life focus. Hung out w/ friend's for P's B-day at mini golf. Shot pool, arcades, golfing, food w/ T&K, L&R, and T&J. Played w/ P at arcades w/ his grandma. Likes to throw the balls at the arcade, hitting air hockey puck and pushing pool balls with the stick. Growing fast. Started saying words. Suprised us all by saying "bubble" at house.  Watched movies last week. Project Hail Mary, They will Kill you. Bike rides mid week w/ AL. Been busy, looking forward to quiet. Butt heads with brother and mom over the phone this week. Frustrating but mostly miscommunication. Felt small. Thinking of DC and his side of the family. Discussing religion and anthropology w/ AL, while learning about North Sentinel Island via feed and the Andaman Islands natives the Onge and Jawara slow decline. Thinking of Earth Liberation Front from a few weeks back. Struggling to read. Need to be more off line. Uncle C's death anniversary. Could not go, reached out to MT to send love. Set to watch The Drama w/ friends today. Picked up DVD's of Chris Cunningham's work, Michel Gondry, and Spike Jones. Especially excited about Chris Cunningham. Inspiring stuff. Got some cuts from carrying winston. Remembering meeting w/ cousin and his partner last week for burgers and hanging out. Helpless about war news, degeneration of societal norms, and endless thrash of life in America.

Software Used:
Ableton
Izotope Ozone 10
TAL-J-8
TAL-UNO-LX
Full Bucket Furry 800
TFP - Slip Through (The Fellow Passenger Max tool)
ALM Busy Circuits - Almicon, Quiadra Verb

Used made randomized F# scale chords generatively (not AI) and recorded output. Set loops of out of end results using personal judgement and minor editing. Repeated process at higher octave and edited notes to a single monophonic note picking only from notes provided in the randomized recorded chords. Used a rule while editing to not choose a note that has previously played. Repeated first step again this time using arpeggio. Used randomized modulation to change the rate of the arpeggio. Used layers of out of phase tremolo to allow arpeggio to pass through polyrythmically and detached from tempo w/ cycled panning. Live triggered parts and recorded to grid. Added TFP's Slip Through to randomize midi notes randomized pass through on all parts. Increased passthrough rates as song moves along. Recorded output to separate audio  layers and used Ozone 10's auto mastering. Quick patching for synth sounds. Taking it easy on WB for now. Trying to just enjoy tinkering with music rather than over think it or push too hard. Short on time and focused elsewhere for now.

Those are some really lush and beautiful synth sounds, cool piece.

Also, really enjoy reading your journal style entry and reflections on playing live, and how fave bit may be just hanging with other bands - def feel similar, one of my fave parts of playing live!

Thank you for listening and reading smile I used a VST recreation of a Korg Poly-800 for the pads. They were cheaper synths in the 80's but, they have a particular sound to them. I quite like the Poly-800 in GiGi Masin's Wind 1986 ambient release. I used a borrowed one years ago and its sound hold a special place in my heart.

I'd say talking with other artists about our mutual art passions is one of my favorite life experiences all around. It is rare to meet like minded people who truly get it sometimes. I try to take advantage of it when I have the opportunity. It's harder now but, I used to talk my way into back rooms at shows and clubs to talk shop with performers. I am really grateful for having had those conversations.
