W10 - 3_6_26 1_40 SyntaktTest

Uploaded old music release from 2007 to bandcamp. It was bit of a impulsive choice. My 7sev remix for Gesceap also just came out this week. Band practice with JK, Crashfaster, and DN. Flyers  are   out and rig kinks mostly sorted. Jk and us talked out his parts. Spent an evening sampling my old drum machines. Shared with wife the functions and talked about the interesting design evolution in the technologies and how they influenced music once available on the market. Went to see Jeff Mills on 30th anniversary tour with AL and was inspired to review the history of techno's inception. Cafe reading again. Read a passage about the gentrification of culture and the cosplay of nostalgia. Movements are made out of necessity not myth. Discussed AI and the societal implications in the art discussions (diminishment or not). We are what we do. We do what we do because we are compelled to. It's an extension of ourselves. In that repetitive pursuit we embody the essence. Too much conflation of production with artistry and other distractions. Not all experiences are universally understood. There is power in defining the parts separate from the individual reactions. AL days later brought up the differences between other cultures pursuit of art and stem. Here it seen as one or another. Other places, it is integrated. Comparison of silicone valleys architecture to that of China's tech cities. Corporations always cut corners in the name of profit. Culture is an easy corner to cut.

A lot of driving this week. Drove wife to check on parents so she could translate during damage assessment. Sun is out more and things are getting warm went to corporate bookstore out of town to buy on sale DVDs and books. Checked out the new Japanese market and split some snacks. Concern about running out of time for work. Compared physical risk aversion with friend group while driving with AL. I am outlier. Also discussed favorite view driving between cities. Can see Docks sunset and multiple cities at once against hill skylines and the bay. DMing things more regularly with brother. Hike and archery tomorrow with local friends before practice again?

Gear Used:
Elektron Syntakt
Tascam DR-40

Software Used:
Izotope Ozone 10

Made as a test of the new Syntakt 1.40 upgrade. Included new sample abilities, Track layer locking, and other workflow changes. Completed in a few hours of tinkering. Quick recorded live stereo out to DR-40. Levels are a bit off but good enough for what I was doing. Used M8 to sample from DR-110, TR-505, TR-606, TR-626 to build new sample library for Digitakt. The rest was moved over from old sample library of my drum machines. Quick overall experience. Decided to record to video with extra time.

I adore this one. Everything is punching through on this end. Nice groove. Interesting elements all the way through.

Ooo that new sample engine slaps.

Really opens up the Syntakt as an all in one song machine.

Your remix was really amazing, thank you for your contribution and collaboration.

i get more and more interested in syntakt every time I hear your beats

quite varied, lots of little parts in and out, layers on layers
also kick in your face boom boom.

Love the punching pace of this and those lil percussive arpy synths sound awesome!  That must have been fun sampling all of those classic drum machines.

Highly propulsive stuff!

Chase music is the best music. Dark and motivational this one, hitting hard with the bubbling bass and punchy percussion.

High energy track! I was considering getting a Syntakt at some point and the new OS update makes it look like a good choice, even more suited to my needs than a Digitakt!

really dig how this picks up steam
i am also an outlier amongst peers re: physical risk aversion
i think most of them think i've lost it, oh well
heart

Very cool, great job keeping the energy flowing and evolving. Great set of sounds here!

sounding awesome!!!!

Loving the way this is starting

Love the pick up!

Mid way through and I love the way its turning out!

About 2 minutes in, very solid.

The closing is a chef's kiss!

9 G et all

Over all, love this*

I am glad you enjoyed it and I hear you. For a quick demo pass it could be worse. It just feels like a bit of a misstranslation of my mind to the sounds. I think reducing by 3 to 5 decibels would allow more mix room and for the quieter elements to peak better. The opening chords are almost completely lost but, were meant as a key element. I could addresss it by opening the filter a bit or boosting the levels up over the channels by like 3 db. The post mastering would have felt more balanced and more inline with my intention i think. Can't do it though as it was a live stereo take. c'est la vie as the say.

It adds a lot more than some are giving credit for I think. It really broadens the sound pallet of the device even if it is limited.

You're too kind. I think the Syntakt would be up your alley. Let me know if you have any questions about it. I'd be happy to share my thouhgts.

I try to get fresh samples every once in a while from those old devices. They sound a little different every time due to the technology of the era being less stable. It's a subtle but, nice way to shake things up occasionally.

I quite like mine. I also like my original Digitakt too. They are some of my most used gear as of late too. Hard to go wrong either way. They are good workhorses.

haha, glad to know I am not alone. A little risk has rewards but, you can only reap em if you push past the initial fear for safety.
