Spent the week working on a remix for release. Decided to work on it using the Polyend tracker and other gear to mix up workflow. I like the tracker but, have had hardware and software issues since being gifted. Current firmware seems good now. Been putting off soldering on the new knob they sent me. Trying to get out of the house more and to focus on health. Took several walks, stopped by library, went to open house (to snoop w/ AL), rode bike to local cafe and to do some quick shopping. Replacement pants. Should and neck doing better. Don't quite feel the same yet. My cat Ruby, has been climbing on me when trying to sleep in bed. Hard time sleeping. Getting used to idea of brother moving. Close to finishing Voyager w/ AL. Sad to see our multi year Star Trek watching project see another chapter closed. Talked to elderly neighbors about the local community. Small world. We have a lot of overlap in people. Their shower is broken and they have been using empty unit next to us. They sell books locally.

Weekend attended a banquet wedding with AL and local crew (Alan's). Drove L&R and had a nice time. Seated with friends. Don't know groom well but had a nice time as +1. Took photos, drank wine, chatted. Saw people we don't see offten. Took giant bottle of henessy home. Good time. Nice seeing everyone happy. Rode bike and had dinner with inlaws following day. Talked about WB, chiptune, creativity w/ her brother and his wife. Pleasant evening.

Media consumed: Star Trek Voyager, Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, Nullsleep - Boundary, Apparitions - Forest Drive West, Marco Zenker - Challenge, Gesceap - ??? (unreleased), Bogdan Raczynski - Slow down Stupid, 1, 2, 3

Gear Used:
Eurorack 84hp (Moog Mother 32, Erica Synths DIY Polvocks VCF, Erica Synths Black VCA)
Polyend Track

Software Used:
Renoise
ALM Busy Circuits ALMicon
Sound Toys Decapitator
Sound Toys Radiator
Inphonic RX950
Audiorealism Abl3
Izotope Ozone 10

Track started after tearing down remix setup. Enjoyed exploring the Polyend tracker. Fantastic sampler when it's working (bum knob, need to replace). Left it out and brought out 84hp eurorack case holding extra bits. Spent the evening until early morning in the living patching and sampling the 84hp w/ polyend tracker while wife play animal crossing and my cat slept. Dinner break to watch Voyager together. Originally intended to utilize samples in tracker to make something. Ended up taking SD card to computer and for some file management. Got distracted and showed wife some examples of samples and intended use using renoise. Ended up make a test song that I liked. Expanded the song late at night rolling into the new day. Went to bed and finished the track when I woke. Very much a natrual exploration. A bit of a basic song. All sounds made from the 84hp samples except the 303 acid line.

Very bouncy and spirited vibe on this. The mix and arrangement has a cool hocket-y feel, the whole thing feels almost pointillistic.

love the sound of the opening melody.  the groove is super catchy right away and such a nice acid line that bounces with the melody.

Very nice smile

perfect soundtrack to reading yr update. hope we both get some better rest this week!

Bright and upbeat with lots of fun little flourishes with that sweet polymetric 303 dancing its way through.

AFX-lite. Is good track

I was thinking the same thing. Loved it. Almost like I was performing spoken word on top of it.

Beautiful track, I wish it was twice as long! Oh well *hits play again*

I agree with the other comments about this having some of the DNA of mellow AFX tracks. Lean into that shit and make a full-length track!

I had to look up what a hocket was, I have a pretty limited musical education I am afraid tongue

I kinda see what you mean though. The composition is a bit pokey in how I assembled the different instrument parts. Working with trackers encourages that kind of composition for me. The instruments chop each other off when using the same tracks and creates a natural instrument choking between each other. playing with that "limitation" is a fun game and leads to a lot of the pointillistic grooves you pointed out smile

Thank you! The main polyphonic intro melody is just Mother 32 sine waves. I got lucky and the melody fell out without too much struggle in the tracker this time. They ended up setting the tone for the rest of the track.

I probably should get a small toy keyboard to work out melodies easier but, I never do tongue

Thanks, bad sleeping habbits are practically a way of life for me. Especially lately. Hope yours are better than mine and good luck catching up.

Thank you. Ah, the polymetric 303 has been a bit of a staple as of late. I've actually been wanting to roll back a bit as I don't want to overly use it. It felt right for this one though.

That's actually really interesting to me. I've never really thought about others listening and reading my notes stacked in that way.

Haha, I might go back and extend it in the future.

Thank you, I don't think I can quite live up to his skill level. I might go back and extend this one in the future though. Listening to it again, I think I can do a bit more outside of the WB context.
