Hold On

Been listening to a lot of Hizmi, in particular the release New Power. I ended up mixing in some Boards of Canada vibes while experimenting with FM sound design for the Sega Genesis. I have found the hardwired EGs to be useful for imitating reversed echoing.

One struggle I discovered with the tracker I had been using is that the mixing does not accurately represent what the exported file sounds like on hardware. It took some bouncing around to get the levels sounding generally right.

Gear Used:
defelmask - tracker
Everdrive - flash cart for hardware playback
Sega Genesis model 2 va3
Ableton - To record and eq song from Sega Genesis

Wow, you're getting some great sounds out of that.

Hizi is fkn brilliant, this is a real departure from his works, very much your own style. The drums and other ambient pad sounds are well done, cool ideas here.

Thanks! hizimi is an FM god for sure. I think his influence on this track was mostly in encouraging me to explore more complex FM sound design. I don't think I would be able to do his compositional style and glitchiness without spending a lot more time.
