After spinning so many plates for so long, you're sometimes tempted to let them fall, just to see if it's really that bad a thing. This is bright and ethereal, and at the same time, kind of soul crushing with what jwh shared in mind. I am sorry, but holy cow what a way to channel grief into something so dazzling.
I am sorry for the loss. I feel the sadness in your song. I wish you the best from my heart.
I'm so sorry for your loss Emily. Andy sounds like a wonderful friend. This is such a beautiful tribute to him.
This played after Joshua's beautiful tribute and it was an absolute 1-2 gut-punch. So much grief, so much love, all pouring out through this piece. Tears in my eyes. Sending so much love to you both. ![]()
Ethereal and maybe a little reminiscent of Imogen Heap in its twinkling and evolving chord rotation? Somebody used the word crystalline in a comment above, and I agree. The stormy ambience is perfect and just subdued enough, and you use your voice consistently as a wonderful textural tool. Would love to see you go crazy with a piece that layers a bunch of vocal work together! But maybe that's leaning in a bit too hard on the Imogen Heap thing. Either way, digging your musical identity!
thank you sweet WB community
Andy loved music, the color blue, lightening, spinning plates, dancing, drinking coffee... i feel privileged to have called him a friend - he taught me so much and made my life richer
i watched this whole documentary the day after his funeral
i woke up this morning to the news on NPR that the DOJ is trying to remove protections for individuals with disabilities & pull the federal funding that helps keep individuals with special needs as independent as possible
the work that organizations serving these folks do is already underfunded, under appriciated & often done by immigrants... their work is part of a web of welcome to make sure people of diverse abilities are included into a wider community and not just locked away, forgotten, &/or marginalized
states like indiana do not have the funds to cover what the federal govt. subsidizes
in indiana they criminalized sleeping in public spaces(*as noted in 'unexpected mermaids') - this begins July 1st - it feels like the current regime is setting things up to start a new wave of arrests and send more people to for profit prison camps here in the US
"institutionalized human rights tragedies emerge when mass civil detention is normalized without meaningful legal restraints"
beyond the inhumanity & injustice of this move - this will all cost more & create new problems...
i hope Andy is looking out for all of us with blue lightening in his fists...
