the return of the light

By emily on December 24, 2022 10:03 pm

the time has come for going in
the blizzard winds are blowing

the frost is on the windows panes
but inside we are glowing

we keep the hearth fire burning bright
as we greet the return of the light

oh winter snow
and winds that blow
and storms that will not last

the work you’ve done
under this years sun
will be swept into the past

so greet anew the new years flight
as we celebrate the return of the light

wishing you all the coziest of winter seasons!

love the bells and vocals. what reverbs are you using? they're insane smile

The music and lyrics work in tandem to really capture the winter vibe.  Another year is pretty much done, but the new year always brings some feelings of hope and optimism.

beautiful and holy music.

A grand, sparkly embrace of this season. Here's to the return of the light!

Only in the midst of darkness can we appreciate the return of light. Celebrate that growling bass! Merry Christmas!

Here in Australia it's getting hotter and hotter - this a beautiful counterpoint to what's happening over this way

this is so delicate and emotional.  great lyrics!  Happy holidays!

loving that sidechain kinda swell of the bass growl and chords

a great spin of the wheel for sure, so wonderful. Thank you.

Excellent verbage on your vocals.  I feel like I'm sitting in a great hall on middle earth smile Excellent atmosphere throughout.  I really enjoyed your contribution the Rutabega album too! I hope you are having happy holiday season!

thank you!

the verbs used on the vocal tracks (4 total) were vocal presets: "Reverb For Days" with the space & delay cranked then doubled with a "digital box hall" with reverb and delay set to the middle (2 tracks had a vocal presence added & 2 tracks had a vintage vocal filter on the EQ)

on some of the instrument tracks the stock "reverb" is up past half as are the "ambience" settings & some of those have a "Rhodes Refresh" filter on them

there is a "Platinum Verb" & "Platinum Analog Tape" setting on the master as well as an "Artificial Overlord" Excitor

all made in garageband 10.4.7

thank you all!  hope you are keeping cozy & finding some time to recharge - what a year eh?

here we all go (even us on the other side of the wheel) round in the circle game heart

Oooo gorgeous track. I love the tinge of christmas vibes throughout but that it has this distinct cold, dreamy atmosphere with the spacey reverb. That ending in particular is great, cutting everything out and letting your voice be the outro.

Missed that one last week.

Very nice use of your vocals with that ocean of reverb. Love the bells "Christmas" vibes.
