the synth bends are so calming. the background pads that blend in and out with your vocals are just awesome. wow! this is one of my favs this year. Bravo!

garage band is the DAW

*there are 3 tracks of stock synthpad loops = 'melting mountain 1 & 2' (they are panned 40% left/right) & melting 'mountain 1' in the center (all the pads may have alterations to the stock sounds)

*there is a stock synthpad loop track called 'where it falls' that ends when a synthloop track called 'where it rises' comes in toward the end - those two tracks are slightly panned left right

*there is a stock synthpad loop track that's toward the end that comes in called 'shifting glaciers'

*there is synthpad preset called 'crystal spheres' that i played with the 'musical typing' setting that i play it with my QWERTY keyboard

all those synthpads & i played with a bit & messed with the settings

*then there are 3 tracks of vocals - 2 have a 'reverb for days' effect and those are panned 40% left/right
and the center vocal track has a 'long spring reverb' effect

sometimes i write lyrics before hand and hear a melody & sometimes i just sing and see what comes out - this was a week where i just sange what came out

i messed with the the delay and reverb setting on those as well & eq'd them with a 'vintage vocal' setting that i tweaked a bit

all the tracks are eq'd track by track

THE MIX

all of this i mixed to 'peak standard' between -6 to -3 static compression (not sure where it landed but this is the range i shoot for) on the plug in mvMETER2

FINALIZING

*fussed with the eq on the master bus - looks like there's a pretty big high pass filter happening? default eq? i don't remember eqing this song like this but it's how it is saved

*adding just a little compression

*setting the limiter to -.1db with the gain up to 2.7 as the mix was metering pretty quiet

this got over compressed with the stock compression i had tried at first... and i was really struggling with adjusting the compression preset that i did like the sound of... so i went back to the default compresor & watched a compression video and made some similar moves to the pro & really opened the space back up i was gonna share that but can't find it again

all of that then was metered with the mvMETER this time to 'RMS standard' between -12 & -9

i then checked that the luffs were up above -14lufs to make sure it was loud enough looks like it hit -13.7lufs - using the free Youlean loudeness meter
