Really cool how your vocals sit in the mix. Such a nice nostalgic warm feeling with the vinyl crackle and bass. Between the sultry bassline and the sparkly synth I was getting some Zero 7 vibes. I'm noticing a downtempo theme so far this week in the tracks I've listened to Thank you for the Dave Grohl link def going to check that out with my morning cawfee.
ooooo this is some late night study jams. Been listening to a lot of that kind of music lately, so I appreciate the atmosphere it brings.
This would be nice to listen to on a rainy day as it seems to encapsulate that feeling of overcast melancholy that can come with it. I agree the vocals sound especially good on this one.

Haha I've def been laugh/crying a lot when watching all these clips of them. I still have a drum masterclass I wanted to watch with him.
For Zero 7 I was into the first 3 albums but haven't checked out their newer stuff. That first album (Simple Things) is a classic for me personally. It was one of those albums I discovered back when we had big giant music stores with cd listening stations. The cover said "listen to me" and oof It was a nice combo of Portishead, Massive Attack & Air with a 70s vibe that made me think the album wasn't new. My fav tracks are "Simple Things", "Destiny" (which has Sia on vocals) and "This World". Waiting Line has been kinda overplayed in the movie biz (multiple soundtrack uses and originally in Garden State) but it's still a good track. Their instrumentals are super chill too. *pushes nerd glasses up*
I love this, getting FlyLo vibes out of this. One of my absolute favorite of yours.
This is a truly excellent piece. Definitely agree with the Flying Lotus reference above, but it's not that either. It's totally you.
Very nice 90ies analog record triphop feeling. Sweet and dreamy. so fine.

yay! happy studying!

was totally raining when i wrote this - i was feeling really insecure about the vocals on this so thank you!

thank you ilzxc & fc - that's really nice - i wasn't quite sure where i was going with this piece - i just wanted to try something a bit different... the darn songs never come out how i'm hearing them in my head!
i have never heard of FlyLo - do you have a song or album you like by them?

if only i had the analog toys - digital is getting really close though eh? close enough for my budget
thank you for listening and the nice words!

When you are ready perhaps there will be some comfort in the legacy he left with that/a special kinda memorial.

It will be fun to check out "Simple Things" - I love Portishead & Massive Attack! I love hearing the story about how you found that album - but it totally made me feel so old as I've lived long enough to both forget and now remember going to listening stations at music stores!!! How could I forget that??? I think I even listened to vinyl at some of these stores in chicago perhaps? I'm old enough to have checked out vinyl records & reel to reel films from the public library! Garden State is what I was thinking of - thank you... I think I need to eat more fish or something for my memory I did get a head injury in the late 1990's so sometimes I wonder if stuff from around that time is more fuzzy because of that? Or I'm just old *hikes up old lady stockings*
This track is lovely (and especially rewarding to listen with headphones).

I think two years in a row Flying Lotus was my most listened to artist on Spotify, so tempted as I am to say "everything" -- Cosmogramma I still discover new things in after hearing it a lot, and I was also really indebted to Until the Quiet Comes for getting me through some tough times. @fc is right, though, this is totally you.

I like the vocals on this a lot. And the music. And the sound design.
really nice rainy mood and vocals. could use a cool electric piano solo wink wink nudge nudge if u ever need some on a track, I would gladly provide
That bass is awesome. Nice moody subdued track. I like the faint echoey vocals as well.
Warm vintagey sound. The vinyl sample starts to sound like a crackling fire that you could kick back to and sip brandy while chilling inside away from the rain. Love the way the vocals are nested snuggly down in the mix.
God those drum selections are impeccable, as are the vocal reverberations. This is like a perfect cheese pizza to me - few ingredients, perfect combination, perfect ratio, perfect temperature.
The song length was perfect. This would be a perfect track #4 on a record.
Vinyl crack - check
Tasty bass - check
Beautiful vocal layers - check
It has the feel of being inside and watching the rain on the hills. A bit of nostalgia, but in a good place.

thank you my brother gifted me a year of spotify so i've got those saved to spend some time with - a quick listen was very intriguing!

relaxing and chill but the tempo is still a bit upbeat. great for this cold snap we've got going here right now. makes me want to cook something tasty to warm my bones.
Love that extra deep bass around 55 seconds (and later on), somehow huge and subtle at the same time. Really love how this grows and develops. Let the rain fall at 1:45, so nice. Cool to hear there was a collaborative element, bass part works really well with your voice.

Haha I think I took my own trip down memory lane rediscovering them too recently. I forgot about those little musical adventures that are now replaced with instant email alerts and streaming. Yay nostalgia!

wishing you all cozyness
now i want soup
Ooh, a nice beat in there! Great bass from JWH. Vocal element so nice as usual. Like this one!
Got some cool funk/slow jam vibes going on here. Love it! Wish I was as talented as you. Or at least had the confidence to sing in my tracks.

i'm not sure that it is either talent or confidence - i had to give myself a stern talking to
i told myself "just let what you want to express come out & DON'T JUDGE IT - see what happens! it might surprise you..." i try to approach it like an experiment/like play/like prayer
it has surprised me what comes out & i don't always like it & i'm not always happy with it - but it's what came out & i feel glad that i made something - when i start comparing i loose all confidence... so i make myself stop
doing this practice week after week helps & i sang on stage from when i was a child - so it's just habit/i just love to sing - kids used to really bully me about singing so emotionally - but after that made me sad I thought - "so what - who cares what they think - i love to sing" so i sing & i hope you will too (if you want to) & not judge it but see what comes out - it might surprise you

This is such a beautiful song respective on the creative process. More motivated to just let go, and experiment.
