I was just thinking about how much I hate the phrase "time is money."  It's just used to make us feel that time is a scarce commodity and make us feel guilty about how we choose to use our time, with the ultimate goal of chaining us even more to the grind.  I like the way you're thinking about it much more.  Also great track.

lovely message, good to reflect on this. but it doesn't feel up to me.

"i didn't choose the thug life, the thug life chose me" kinda energy in capitalism / the big city, with big rent and corporate job, and trying to do art on the side. you can go against it, but it's a big decision cause whatever you do now impacts the rest of your life. you can't relive your youth, which goes both ways: you can't go back and have fun in your fresh healthy years, but you also can't go back and earn and grind to have more comfort later on. it's fuckin tough to choose, you never really know what will happen... still better that we're free to choose tho, than being in an authoritarian place where someone decides for us. but I wish the choices weren't so compromisy...

I especially dug how rich the beat got by the halfway mark on![/quote] “Time stays long enough for anyone who will use it.” — Leonardo da Vinci [quote=underground Luau]wow the slow intro of that beat really grabbed ahold of me! how did you make it? lovely vocals and lyrics as well [/quote] “Time will explain.” ― Jane Austen just kidding - i'll try to break it down [spoiler=here] i use garageband & don't have a midi right now so i use the "musical typing" tool to program the synth parts i also generally follow the bars as i struggle to play to a metronome - some tracks start with drums then i go from that but i built this one with the synths first i started with an arp called "airship rising" i doubled this and panned it +35 left right that's the one in the beginning then the next weird synth noises was a synth setting called "splatter table" on all the syth tracks for this i messed with the sound... in garage-band different synth settings have different option depending on the kind of sound you are working with - on some you can change the waveform, the reverb, etc. i wasn't gonna use drums this week but sat and scrolled through the loops & found 5 different beats that layered really well so 4 of those are panned and the high hat topper i left center then i found a couple synthbass loops i liked all these tracks then got individually eq'd then i metered everything with the mvMeter2plug in to peak standard then i added EQ, Compression (a VCA vocal), a limiter set to -0.1 with the gain 2+ then i metered this to RMS standard then i checked the luff with the Youleen loudness meter plguin & it metered above -14 probably more round -12.5ish? let me know if you have anymore questions [/spoiler]
