fly above it all

By emily on March 31, 2024 9:33 pm

This song is dedicated to the memory of a beloved friend and teacher named Meghan - who taught me a whole lot about transformation & what it means to be visible & fully yourself in a world that is not always so accomidating.  I miss her so much!

That main pattern is both rhytmic and percussive, and is highly hypnotic. The rises here and there are very stark and bring a lot of dram and dynamic to the track. Evocative and cinematic!

❤️

That change of pulse at the start as the kick comes in is pretty mind-bending. Took my brain a while to catch up.

Looooove the middle section with the kicks and vocals and pads. Everything plays off everything else in a really excellent way. This one is definitely of my favourites of the year so far.

Congrats on making it through 13 weeks smile

wow, this track had about 3 different left turns

that shuttering horn sound is so good

hate to say "cinematic" all the time but there is some real scene playing out in my head.  the persistent guitar riff (the one that starts off the track) is a delicious bubbling up from underneath surface.

and then the "on time" guitar riff is a really cool counterpoint.  LOVE that it remains for the outro.  this is really strong work!

Love the riffs, and how they illustrate transformation. Beautiful tribute.

Very nice. Love the "cinematic" vibes there. Beautiful vocals again.

I am sorry for the loss of your friend. This has a transcendental vibe to it, over all your lovely levitated voice. The noises coming in and out are stimulating my brain as well. Loved to hear this track.

I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. This is a beautifully deep track and a lovely tribute to her. heart

The music is straight up trance inducing.  I've been really digging the textures you've been exploring this year and this is no exception.  A wonderful monument and memorial for your friend.

beautiful tribute heart<3

Lucky 13! Pleasant and spacious, previous comments did a great job pointing out how evocative this piece is. And yes, the upper-echelon vocals are the highlight for me as well.

thank you for this beautiful track, emily. i know i told you the other day, but i really love how the song starts and i'm not quite sure where the 1 of the beat is, and then the drums come in and totally throw me for a loop. and as always... your voice heart

and thank you for sharing that video of Meghan. i hadn't seen that one and it warmed my heart. i miss her too, she was such a kind person and did so much important work.

When that beat kicks in with the vocals, that gave me goosebumps, this is unpredictable yet everything is so cohesive and fits in just right, stellar entry for this week!

i'm sorry for your loss. beautifully hypnotic tribute!

Love the push and pull created by the pulsing patterns and the kick drum that drives it forward.  The bass sits so nicely with the kick when it comes in midway.  Excellent trip hop vibes.

Thank you WB crew - ya'll are a bunch of sweeties!
Hope you are flyin' above it all this week!

It's very breezy, I love it, like flying in the sky.

Trans people should be visible every day.

Sorry for your loss. Sounds like a great teacher mentor. Transformation is important and challenging. A great mesmerizing tribute, I'm drifting along.
