Such a nice build using the different drums to groove along with that calming chord progression.  Vocals sound so powerful as you rise above the wave of the arp and drums with that awesome reverb.  multiple listens needed smile well done!

important message and excellent expression of it through your art. very cool assembly of unexpected sounds! yay for intersectional dance music!

love this!

i am so glad you exist
thank you for being you
and thank you for sharing this incredible music

Given the rant context, that sax is like this nagging feeling, like this itch you felt about the wrongs and injustices. It makes me feel I understand why the clash with the dreamy vocals and the gentle sines.

In an interview I read recently, the interviewed journalist/writer (Tim Maughan) says that some subjects he covered were upsetting enough that he needed an outlet to voice his opposition. That's how he became a writer: writing fiction as polemics. So yeah, I can relate to using art as a venting mechanism. Protest songs exist for a reason!

Beautiful.

I've been told multiple times "this story would be better and more marketable if the main characters were heterosexual." On this very site I had a "why does it have to be gay?" comment. It's gay cuz it's fucking gay.

People are because that's how they are, not how some closed minded asshole wants them to be so they can live more freely in their delusional worlds.

I am always envious of your vocals. They are staggeringly beautiful and sublime. heart

Well said, well sung, well composed, and well done. Those quotes were distressing to read. I'm always grateful to get to hear your songs and stories.

Really enjoying the uplifting, triumphant delivery of this message - "despite" indeed. Rez Dogs is such a special show that I feel compelled to gush about whenever it comes up, and the episodes written/directed by Jacobs (I didn't know about this!) are exceptional.

Wow, very cool swing to this song. And a very important rant.

Yes! The sax and drums drew me in, had me swaying and grooving, so nice. Read your words while listening, educational and thought provoking as always. Thank you, I have new things to think about today. The name Lee Miller is familiar, but I'm not educated on her and I haven't heard of the film yet, will find that! My family and I loved Rez Dogs, I will now refresh on those episodes and that director. Sweet.

The music grabs you right away and creates a beautiful foundation for a message that clearly needs to be broadcast a lot louder than it currently is.

This is awesome. The sax/clarinet backing is super fun. Full of movement, kept me moving.
Regarding your rant, you're right. Some of this nonsense is absolutely infuriating. As someone who has chosen to not have kids, it is WILD to hear that someone believes I'm not invested in the future. But then again, I'm a dude, so I guess to them my vote still matters in their eyes. Yay for me...
Anyways, the current situation is baffling, infuriating and I wish there were more that could be done to stop this egregious infringement of rights everywhere.
Thank you for making this song, thank you for existing and thank you for ranting.

straight up fantastic!

Very frustrating to hear all of the points you brought in your "rant". I absolutely agree. It's incredibly frustrating that gatekeepers and power wielders are so locked to limited perspective.

great track BTW.

That sax intro pulled me right in and was the perfect launch into this artistic response to your frustrations. I really like when the bass kicks in around 0:53 and the way your amazing soft vocals contrast as they ride atop that pulsing brassy rhythm. "We exist" still lingers for quite some time after the last note fades.

kind chidfree by choice "dude" - vance and his ilk don't want your vote to count equally either...

as far as investing in the future goes: this doesn't seem like someone who cares about or is invested in the future of the living creatures on this planet to me...
