Rainy

This piece is a combination of a few different recordings that I made this week. The intro was created as I was messing around and preparing for an extended jam that I planned to be about 20-30 minutes that I would created visuals to for my Video Sketch Archive - https://www.youtube.com/@sc0o0tt
I was interrupted by some door-to-door salesmen selling me some garbage I don't need, and the recording ended up only being a few minutes long. I thought the intro, which was performed on my Sonicware Liven Ambient 0, was pretty cool, so I EQed it into oblivion and it actually sorta sounds like a piano (originally it was just raw wave forms I think).
The next part was this cool rhythmic space I found on the Ambient 0 a few days later. Every time I pressed some keys, the filter would reset, and so I played an ascending and descending melody on it for a little while.
The third part I created specifically for this song once I had combined the first two. I messed around with preset A.55 (because it looks like a naughty word on the digital screen), and added some delay into the patch alongside messing around with the cutoff, resonance, attack, and release. I really like playing notes into a delay, so it allowed me to make some repeating melodies. I tried to play this one in a higher register so it wouldn't be combatting for sonic space with the other recordings, and I EQed everything to try to separate their sounds a bit more.

The visuals were created by filming during a very rainy day. The camera's screen made everything look extremely muted and gray, to the point that I wasn't even really sure what it was aimed at for a lot of the recording, but I added in a ton of contrast in post that also brought out some nice saturation and allowed me to actually figure out what the heck the camera had been pointing at the whole time.

Damn salesmen interrupting your flow!  I hate when someone rings my doorbell and I'm not expecting it.  Especially if I'm in the middle of writing or recording.  It reminds me of the famous story of how Samuel Taylor Coleridge visualized the poem Kubla Khan in an opium induced dream, tried to write it down upon awaking, and then was interrupted by an unexpected visitor and was unable to remember how it went and couldn't finish it.  You've done a good job of salvaging what you started and combining it with the ideas that came later.  Overall it's quite pretty and has a bit of a melancholy feel, which fits with the rainy day you filmed.  I like how you give us some closeups of seemingly mundane scenery.  The texture of the roof for instance looks cool, and is something I maybe wouldn't normally notice.

very meditative, expertly crafted. thank you
