Where Do You Start?

Pretty happy with this one.  Especially the guitar solo in the bridge/coda.  And the ending, I like the ending.

-----------------------------------------

Don't you feel like you took the long way?
And don't you know that this isn't your day?
And can't you see that you have got it coming?
Just believe that what you're doing won't be numbing you
have got to see that, don't you?

Get your coat and grab your hat.
You've lots to do today.
Brush your teeth and snatch your scarf.
Everything about you must change, you've got to make up your heart.
Only question left is where do you start?

Let me just be upfront.
You can be anything that you want.
Isn't that what they told you
in between the times when they were scolding you
have got to be what they said, don't you?

Great phrasing on the vocals, particularly the ending. I'd like to hear it at a slower tempo.

I could probably cut the intro which is too long and slow it down about 10-20 bpm and it would be about the same overall length.

nice work!  I like the ending too.  cool song topic

Whoah, Edmund. That "contemporary funkier Rupert Holmes" vibe did took me by surprise! Love those "slapback echo" vocals. The track has some kind of syncopated swing previously unseen this year in your WB IMHO.

I wish the kickdrum would be a little bit louder to dance to it. Really nice!!!

Thank you.  Glad you like it.

That is a very small guitar.  Must be hard to play.

Thank you.  The only Rupert Holmes I think I've ever heard is that Escape song from the '70s.

Dude I really like the lyrics. Deep stuff. Favorited this one, want to listen to it more. "Snatch your scarf" though... i dunno ;-)

Haha, my younger son didn't like that this song says "brush your teeth."  Sometimes you write lyrics and they aren't all that.  Even the Beatles' "Yesterday" started off as "Scrambled Eggs."
