Escape From Wisconsin

By E-dub on April 7, 2020 4:58 pm

This is really my own story of returning to the small town I got out of after high school. But I wrote it in second person because I like it better this way.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Well, you escaped from Wisconsin
you went out into the big world
and you’ve seen some things that most will never see
Now your life has nothing constant
since you threw it all away, girl
and there’s nothing to come back too
not even me.
Well, you escaped from Wisconsin
and you’ve seen the bright and big lights
of Paris, London, and New York City.
And you’ve tried to return again
but now you’re much too cosmopolitan
to spend time with a country boy like me.
I used to spend my days wrapped up in you.
And you’d tell me that was all you ever wanted to do.
We used to be together all the time
I just can’t accept that you could up and leave me behind.

But you did.
And you’re nothing to me now!
Well, you escaped from Wisconsin
you went out into the big world
and you’ve seen some things that most will never see
Now your life has nothing constant
since you threw it all away, girl
and there’s nothing to come back too
not even me.
Well, you escaped from Wisconsin
and you’ve seen the bright and big lights
of Paris, London, and New York City.
And you’ve tried to return again
but now you’re much too cosmopolitan
to spend time with a country boy like me.
Well, you escaped from Wisconsin
you went out into the big world
and you’ve seen some things that most will never see
Now your life has nothing constant
since you threw it all away, girl
and there’s nothing to come back too
not even me.

Tight.

Howd you get that drum tone?

Nice strong performance. Would've had more weight with an electric guitar, but acoustic fits just fine.

Got a hint of Butch Walker in this track. Nice job on the panning of vocals and the drum tone is legit

Yeah the drums are awesome on this.  I also like doubling of the vocals.  Cool lyrics, too.
