Between a heatwave, having spent a ton of time on last weeks track and a super busy week at work, it was hard to get motivited. I did some recordings of an old fan that sounded like a fun jumping off point, but ultimately got me nowhere. There was a moment where I thought about skipping this week, but the looming deadline finally gave enough of a push to make something. This title was on my list of song ideas and seemed like a fun idea. So I just grabbed it, went to work and built this in the last hours before the deadline.
Everything is OP-1 Field, except for the bass and ride cymbal. Bass is from the Norman Cook pack, and the ride is from the excellent Goldbaby Hotpot Vol. 1. All sampled and sequenced into M8. It's all samples, all the way down.
Some parts like the chords were played live, others like the solo and bass were programmed. The drumloop was made with the OP-1F sequencer. The chords were pretty fun to work on and figure out, could've used more of a different B section maybe. Who knows, maybe some day I'll learn to make something more in depth with more than 3 chords?
Some light mastering in Logic.
