Dream Diaries (feat. Jet Kat)

By dreikelvin on January 11, 2014 12:25 am

this is part three of my series "Forest" which revolves around mysterious and supernatural tales in the woods. thanks to the weekly beats project, I found myself motivated to work on a new track this week. more to come, soon! enjoy!

many thanks goes to soundclouder @jetkat who contributed her voice for the whispering tracks. cover art was made by the amazing artist and friend Thomas@Oxpal (oxpal.com)

again, sorry for the watermark beeps. you can listen to a clean audio version on my soundcloud profile:

Wow, love the idea of a dreamy fantasy series on Weekly Beats! Really like the instrumentation, it's really beautiful!

Yeah, this is absolutely beautiful. Really, really amazing work!

too kind thanks mate!

Beautiful track man!

A better preamp for that microphone would eliminate the high noisefloor on the vocal recording.

heh, I know thanks wink the recording was actually really crappy. I did my best to cancel out a lot of noise. ah well. you're right of course!

the vocals are awesome. and somehow strangely I find the watermark bleeps adds to this. great arrangements. awesome!

Wow, really nice. Love the instrumentation.

Hehehe... yeah the watermark kinda works too!  Wheres that watermark actually coming from?

(meant to mention that the track and composition / mixing were right in the pocket... but hit enter too soon!)  The samples are very very good.

what's the point of the beeps? would be nice if I could listen to it on WB

This is working quite well on a sunday night after some hard work. At some parts the water mark sound sounded like it could be in there as a seperate sound. I really liked it when it cuts out into the bells, and goes into the arps. Later on in when it opens up it gets a little muddy in the mix. But aside from that it was def a job well done. I look forward to the rest of the series and might even take a stab at something sounding similar!

Wow this is really nice, cool atmosphere and contrasts. nice gif as always from sp00ked. I'm guessing the beeps are there to encourage people to buy the unbeeped version? Since there's no way to disable downloads on this site.

Great track, really like how the sound of the whispered vocals fit into the mix.

man, so fucking gentle and intimate! Really nice sounds! May i ask where the orchestral sounds (plugin, bank) are from, since the quality is amazing.

wow, thanks for all these nice comments and suggestions! I am using voxengo beeper (www.voxengo.com/product/beeper/) for the watermarks...the orchestral sounds are kontakt and vsl. the natural reverb ( reverence) is also important. I suppose the "muddyness" mr mort describes is one result of that, because the reverb uses an old ballet room as an effect. I actually wanted it to sound a little less hi-fi but it makes me think about maybe EQing some of the instruments after doing the basic mixing. thanks!

This is great man, definitely has a dreamy vibe, awesome stuff.

Wow, well done! That noisy vocal recording actually adds some charm to it in my opinion.

Nice change of pace for my nightly meander through the goodies here - lovely atmosphere and stunning art

Love this track really gives me the feeling of forests with beautiful melodies and something dark brooding in the shadows.

Atmostastic! Sounds great!

Amazing! : )
