Trash Jig

By dreat on May 10, 2026 9:12 pm

This week I took Morisson's Jig, made it fit 7/4 (hence trash jig name - as in someone after one too many (probably just one) Irish trash cans trying to play jig/slip jig)
Mix... is there. It was fun, might try it again.

I'm not happy I quite lost original's vibe, but that might have been because of changing time sig

THIS IS AWESOME.

I've played Morrison's at a bunch of gigs, and I love this take on it...going into a staggering time like 7:4 is a great idea. The vibe of the original is those rapid fire triplets so this is going to be different...but I don't think you lost anything. The melody is recognizable, and you put it into a really different context. Sort of like how so many orchestral pieces are based on variations on a theme. Creative, loved it!

This is cool, your search for odd patterns seem to really yield good results and you are mastering it. Nice work @dreat.

This is neat, even if the 7/4 really messes up the jigginess.
Here's to trash.
