Marshy Descent

I've started looking into dungeon synth, it's quite an interesting genre. Something surprising I learned about it was that it was started in the 90s by black metal artists making demos on cassettes with their synths.

I started making this track using my Casio SA-8 that I bought for $10 at a flea market. I put a 1/4" output on it so I can run it directly into my mixer. I also used Orchestral Tools' Grimm library and this incredible free folk winds library you can get on pianobook https://www.pianobook.co.uk/packs/folk-winds/

I then drenched everything in Sketch-Cassette II and put some Aberrant DSP Lair on it all which is my new favorite reverb/delay plugin.

Fantastic! As someone who is both involved in an early music recorder consort and loves RPG music, this is AMAZING. So much fun.  Also, haven’t heard of Sketch Cassette before, but I love the results. Great track! Thanks for the links on your sound sources, I’ll be checking it out. smile

love it! Casio(tone) 4ever heart

The main melody synth reminds my a little bit of the Tohu Soundtrack by Christopher Larkin, especially "The Swamp" - so "Marshy Descent" is a great fit!
