Trident (Kedbreak drum challenge)

By djippy on March 7, 2026 5:02 pm

A fun collaboration with Kedbreak this week.

He like my "messy" stoner rock tracks and can riff a guitar so we agreed that he sends me some riffs, then I was able to track some drums and send stems to him as well.

I did use his guitars, then added my "2026 mellotron sauce" with synth bass as well. Kedbreak did send me a preview of his version and it is very fun, should be a different arrangement, he did chop the drums parts I sent to him as well. Didn't listen to his version yet, it should be good!

This is the rehearsal local we rent in Montreal.

Fitness journal. Getting back to it, not as strong as the start of the year, writting this on Saturday, so far about 4h30 of cardio, I should exercice today and tomorrow as well for maybe 5h30-6h total this week. No changes with the body weight...

Rock on! (if you do not follow Kedbreak work yet, go listen to his stuff it is great!

epic collab!

Dope drumming!! You two should start a band smile

neat collab you two! The guitar & drums are awesome, and that mellotron in the background is a fun touch! big_smile

Just came from listening to Kedbreak's version.  It's interesting to see the different directions you took it.  Both versions rock.  I can't pick a favorite.  Nice collab!

Hail yais!  Loving the vibe of this awesome collab from you both!  Your drums hit so hard with the guitar riffs.  The organ adds a nice touch too.  Giving me some Black Keys vibes but wayyy heavier \m/  excellent work!

I love what you did for your version. This is the same song but from a parallel universe quite far away. The synth bass is HUGE, and the mellotron provides a mellow atmosphere to the track. Big buildup but the return to the first section around 2:30 is an elegant way to come back. Good idea to double the tracks with an octave up version.

Thank you for the collab, that was a pleasure and I love the results.

One of fun part of a band is to sit together on a room, it would be hard at the moment as Cedric (Kedbreak) is literally on the other side of the world! But for sure it would be fun to ping pong ideas, riffs, midi files, whip samples, etc... smile

Yeah, mellotron emulation is the "2026 djippy sauce" so far. And I like those "drum challenge" as it is less work for me to get thru the week!

Yeah, we really can hear the more "cinematic" approach on Kedbreak track, I really like both tracks. (Especially Kedbreak electric guitar solo that I didn't have access yet.)

I'd take Black Keys comparison any day of the week, I love what they did record, especially there more raw material. (But composition on their more "produced" album are super cool too)

Fait plaisir. On remettra ça!

Always sounds like I'm right there in the room with the jamming, I love that. Really nice drumming.

such a cool jam. just sounds like 2 dudes having a blast.

Love it when a plan comes together, you two syncing up nicely. Loved the track

stoner rock rules ❤️ so many good riffs, got to say 1:58 is really doing it for me. gorgeous drumming as always ! you two are awesome together

heavy session. The octave on thet running line in thmiddle sound perfect.

@ 1:15 pause, i flipped my desk

I love it, such wonderful scratchiness in the guitar plus the gentle mellotronz, and the drums really bring the "oumph" don't know how else to say it..

Groovy! Good stuff and great playing as always cool
