Être ami avec un Robot

By djippy on February 18, 2024 7:13 pm

Ok, so I am feeling like trying to release a stoner rock album later this year with those weekly beats compositions. So this is again fuzzy guitars, same fx-patches as "L'hiver amer" and "Chicken wings".

Wasn't able to start before this Sunday AM, didn't go too far composition wise, my brain have difficulties to process what I did yet. I don't feel that I like it that much yet, but it have time to grow on me I suppose...

What I did:

- So I just loaded again the same project,
- changed tempo,
- recorded the guitars ideas with a metronome,
- edited-find ish a song structure,
- Tracked acoustic drums (3 takes, finally did take integrally the latest one, but did edit a bit)
- Added the bassline, mostly "mouse written, but did use a bit the midi controller too".
- Wanted to add just a bit of vocals, so with all those AI tools and discussions about this, I just felt that "Ami avec un robot" (Friend with a robot) was a fun line to put in, the bass line could remind that but all the other parts are very organic, so I feel it is an interesting contrast.

Hope it will be a fun listen for you guys.

Cool riff!

This is super fun. You recorded this all on a Sunday? That's awesome work for a short bit of time!

Really digging your guitar tone on these last songs, but you probably know I'm partial to those metal sounds. The vocal lines were great on this song too, definitely digging this.

Hell yeah man, sounds great.  Love the gritty guitar sound.

Those are some tight guitars

Yeah, Probably 2-3 hrs of work on this one, would have like to put more work into it, but my 12 years old kid had some friends home so I couldn't focus for too long at the same time. I had to maximize the time I had.

Thanks a lot, Listening it back today I feel it works ok. There are some little things here and there that I feel can be improved, but overall happy.

Thanks! Yeah I did find a setting that works pretty decent for agressive guitars, but not too agressive-hi-mid painful to the hears agressive...

Rock on.

I don't know if I should re-work change the structure of the song to start with "too much - crazy bass and stuff" like I do at the end then come to the song, anyways, for now it is it!

Oooh nice def feeling those CLUTCH, black keys sorta vibes.  The snare sounds so good fighting thru the guitars and cymbals in the mix.  Also really like that higher melody panned right.  Crunchy and grittiness mucho appreciated smile

wow. Such a sharp stoner track. Awesome job and energy.

J'aime bien ces riffs, surtout celui avec les notes dans les aigus. C'est un bon son pour un album de stoner, avec ce cote live qui est bon. Les themes de tes lyrics sont aussi originaux - ca peut faire un bon album tout ca!

No idea what the lyrics are saying, but from the title, I am down to be friends with a robot. Loved the energy of this track, kinda has a QOTSA vibe. And the mix sounds awesome - organic and gritty but not muddy, really well suited for the style. awesome!

J'ai resté dans la même veine cette semaine. Ça s'en va vers quelques pièces plutôt punchés et distortionnés...

Exactly: "Being friend with a robot... but I do not have any friends" are the only two lines on the song. Thanks for the good words!

Rock on. Tune in for tonight track, I feel it is another OK one. wink

Lead line in this really rocks. And the rhythm tone is so edgy and in your face. Awesome!

Love that repeated guitar riff!
