Synths and a LinnDrum

By djippy on June 2, 2024 1:20 pm

Quick one done this Sunday morning in front of the tv (Laptop + Headphones) with kids around...

some instances of Dexed and Tracktion juno 106 clone, a linndrum loop, a linndrum crash into long weird reverb and VOILÀ

A dark cinematic electronic track!

Ominous, cinematic and driving! Love the chug of the bass, and that LinnDrum loop is SOLID. Love how it hits. The whole track has this great density that grabs one and just pushes you forward.

I do love me some LinnDrum, fun fact, the drums that ended up on "Love is a Battlefield" (which are amazing BTW) were the result of Neil Giraldo accidentally deleting 2 bars from the intended 8 bar pattern while learning how to program a Linn Drum.

nice dude, this is really cool. heavy!

Dexed is a fun synth for all those excellent fm dx7 sounds.  Some sweet synthwave feels with the pacing of the drums and pulsing bass.  Nice work!

Great Synth sounds. I can not remember anything like this coming from djippy.

HERE WE GO

I love the sound and feel of this one - very urgent and substantial. A sound from another era perfectly captured!

such a great throwback feel! That linndrum sounds fantastic. The syncopated synths add to the rhythmic charm. So cool to hear a new era of djippy creation.

I can imagine this being the theme song of some corpo middle manager, evil by default

Merci! Tu m'as donné l'idée de "re-faire" la tune avec une orchestration e-guit - e-bass - drums, ca va être ma track cette semaine! Pretty much done!

Et j'ai pas mal fini une autre track linn drums synths donc je suis en business!!! J'espère que tu t'es pas trop fait tapper sur les doigts pour l'erreur au boulôt et qu'après ton -30M tu as pus faire un +30M... Take care!

C'était bien le fun voir ta gueule a l'écran dimanche dernier!

Agreed those LinnDrums are very nice, I like some Roland samples too, but so far if I have to go synthwave-pop LinnDrum is my go to (it was my second track in that style, did a third one this week that I'll probably give to you guys in two weeks...)

Yeah! The interface itself and FM synthesis is not something I am going to dig in anytime soon, but I did download a bunch of cool patches on the interwebs so cycling thru sounds and chose a cool nostalgic one is very nice.

Thanks!

Definitively not my go to! but I did a track in that spirit in 2020? I think? Super fun to do, this is not necessarily the same approach as a 4-4 rock track with normal band orchestration...

Thanks!

It is a very fun exercise to do... Load some popular sounds from an era and go for it!
