Second Wave

By djippy on October 4, 2020 8:18 pm

This week, did record some rock drums first, then tried to add stuff on it. Did listen again to scott pilgrim versus the word this week so I was inspired by that sonically I suppose.

I like the idea of a kind of stupid rock song, some stuff is fun on the track but I am not sure of the structure of this one. meh. I have something at least.

Nice man, very well put together.  Like the vocal doubling, sounds really cool with the panning.

Modulated Drummer: Djippy?
Me: HOW COULD YOU TELL
Modulated Drummer: dun dun dun, dun dun
Me: I LOVE IT

I was into it from the intro. Definitely get the SPvTW vibe.

The tone on the bass is awesome and there's a nice ominous vibe to the track as a whole.

It feels like a moody, pleasant mess. Rock on.

Second thought on second wave, Snare drum should be way more present (Tight deadlines are great, but not re-listening to your track the day after a first mix is tough, sometimes you get it right the first time but I am not that good at it yet)... And like I mentioned, I do like many things on this track but I think structure should be tighten up. Still, happy I was able to release this, and happy I am kicking my ass to do a little music every week.

Little delay panned to the right, it was first set for the guitar but I put vocals as well on the bus.

Yep it is my messy rock n roll stuff. Happy I am getting recognizable. djippy is getting somewhat a "signature" sound after 40 weeks of composition... smile

I really like how powerful just a drum and a bass works for rock. I should have done more bars like that... (or re-do it at some point on the track) Thanks!

Thanks a lot CosmicCairns, you are very generous with comments to many of us and this is much appreciated. It helps to give a little more fuel to the creation...

Merci! I really like rock/punk rock, I did listen a lot of it as a teenager 90's 2000's and at this time it was not always super clean.

Rock!

How am I to pronounce djippy?  DJ Ippy?  D-jippy?  Dji-ppy?

The drum break was really good.  I was listening to some grunge rock recently and this fits right in.

THIS. IS. A. LOCK. DOWN.

You pronounce it as you wish... lol

DJ Ippy is a fun way to put it, but I didn't think at it that way at first. It could be pronounced as "g-p" ... Basically at first it was a way for me to write J-P the way some quebecers does pronounce it.

And J-P is for Jean-Philippe.

The guitar reminds me a little of Les Beruriers Noirs!

Yes it would be nice if the snare hit a little harder, but this is a fun track, I like the lyrics, nice work!

No no no... not just something, this is a fav!! Very punk rock this week. That bass and guitar reminds me of Dead Kennedys and even a bit of TSOL.  The drum break is killer!
