Neo Retro Power Dance

Some laptop sessions. Testing mostly a new product that we are developing at LANDR which is pretty nice to creates chords progression, bass lines, melodies and arpeggios...

I created most of the midi with that tool, did chose some sounds patches, did browse some Samples library for Drum loops, cymbals, kicks and snares, then tried to mix it kind of quickly (not sure yet about what I did but it is something right???)

I feel next week I'll try to re-arrange the track with an acoustic setup (Electric bass, guitars and drums...) cause I did that once this year and it was good fun.

Take care all!

nice one! will be cool to hear this reimagined with acoustic instruments as well, if you end up doing that. i like how those lines can often get blurred these days.
have a great week  smile

Pretty intense dubsteppy sound choices this time, made me somewhat nervous in anticipation as the track progressed. Looking foward to how this turns out as a classic acoustic jazz trio piece big_smile

Tell us more about the chord generation.

Cool track!

You work at LANDR? How did I not know this?

Thanks! Did track a bit already, not a fan yet about what did come out of it, but I still have some time!

Yeah, that bass sound is intense... I couldn't didn't take the time to find those crazy drums or chopped synths that could be super cool with this.

Product will be out in BETA soon, it is basically a midi generator that does use some rules so it is not "crazy random shit that sounds so wild nobody on the occident would use this..." It can actually be really interesting as an inspiration tool, but I did use it as well to "reverse engineer" some guitar progressions, this is what I did use to find the bass part (and synths) on the "Waltz ain't dead" track as it is super easy to change the chords - embellishement - min-maj - scale, etc...

The midi editor is not that elaborate, but easy to use as well so if you want to just move around something it is super easy to do so.

Yeah! I have been there since 2020, I don't brag or talk that much about this, especially that some people doesn't like the brand at all, say that it "steals" some mastering engineer jobs, etc, etc...

I really feel-think that the products - services that LANDR offers is great for the DIY musician that doesn't know where to start, the Mastering engine has been thinked by some really good Mastering engineers, the end result is not always awesome, but if you feed a "decent" track on it, most of the time it does a great job making it loud and alive.

The distribution services works allright too, so if you just want to release some single to the "world", you can do it for not that much $.

Since all business tries to have steady cash flows, the models are to try to get users to Subscribe to services, and this is what LANDR tries to do as well, but still we do offer A la carte. I feel a Monthly subscription where you do as many "Masters" so you can re-visit your mixes is probably the way to go, but I understand that a DIY artist probably doesn't need our services all year long. Anyways my job here is not to sell our products so I am good!!!

For info I am software quality assurance tester here, so basically I try that we do not release stuff that is too much broken... I do work on most of our products and our website as well. Our CEO is very ambitious, we will see how things go but Development team is super cool to work with and since it is related to my musical hobby, I am very happy to be part of this.

We have this neon sign at the office that reminds us what the company should about, and I actually feel that it is the case:

Cool, thanks for the info! I have used samples on LANDR and have always been curious about their other services. There are so many people making and releasing music these days, I don’t see it as something that steals jobs but merely a tool to help inexperienced folk or people that can’t pour resources into their music like a record company can. Keep it up!

Cool! Totally didn't realize you worked at LANDR either.  This was a fun listen and kinda gave me Daft Punk TRON soundtrack vibes smile
