Mon robot est pris dans une reboot loop

By djippy on March 8, 2024 7:07 pm

So after the firmware update, the Robot won't boot anymore... this is pretty dramatic.

Same instruments as last week plus my "cheap" acoustic guitar. But did take the P90 Les Paul for some of the dirty guitars.

This one is more about the story than the composition itself as it is "just" ACGE chord progression, but I quite like how I was able to arrange it.

Lyrics:

Mon Robot, s’est lancé
Dans une ReBoot Loop
Il ne veut pas se réveiller…
Power off,
PRAM reset,

Rien à faire.

Un vrai calvaire…

Je n’ai plus beaucoup d’options,

Factory reset?

RAM upgrade, Firmware dernier crie

Power off,
PRAM reset,
Rien à faire.
Un vrai calvaire…

at the end of last year, my oldest robot BSCT died making sure some confined spaces were safe for people after a disaster. years and I'd never broken a single panel on him, but he came out soaked and with a completely busted face. the face is on the wall in the lab now signed by the epa, coast guard, and everybody else who was present.

thankfully unlike people, robots can be repaired. I got him back this last week. and this may be weird, but I was adamant they fix _him_ and keep _him_ together. I didn't want a replacement to do the job. I wanted BSCT back. which is insane because he's clearly an inanimate object I program to do things. but whatever, he's my boy.

all of that to say, the lyrics really got to me, haha. I love them so much.

the track slaps too. it reminds me a bit of Radiohead in the OK Computer era or like Romeo and Juliet soundtrack. which I absolutely adore.

so good.

Lovely track, could easily be the opening of an HBO's True Detective season. I really hope your robot is doing well nowadays.

Broody and sludgy vibes. Pouring one out for the robot.

This is a tragic song. So sad to hear the story. For me I the music has a good old Neil Young feeling to it. It must be the P90ies.

great to see the lyrics!  cool to see some of the "computer terms" in there - love the continued storyline of our poor little Robot Pinocchio!

Love that story. For sure we can get attached to "objects", more and more those robots can do a lot of what humans can do...

I am trying to do a "concept album" where there is this lonely guy that is friend with a robot which would be with decent AI. Next track will be about finding $$$ to fix the thing.

Yeah, hope the robot will get well too! and that I won't have to do bad crimes to get it working. wink

The little acoustic guitar line as well maybe adds to the vibe.

Again thanks a lot about the time you put into the track. I really like what you did to it, I just wanted the "big wall of guitars" for the solo... wink

Big thanks for listening all!

This is super cool! Great vocals and composition. Love how much emotion you’ve gotten into this narrative, even if I don’t understand french I’m still really engaged with the story somehow. Having recently experienced some crashes of my own it’s interesting to view it in this kind of sentimental dramatic light.

love the slight whisper tone in your voice, as if this entire massive sound is on the edge of a nervous-breakdown, a firmware-update nervous-breakdown big_smile

This is just wonderful. What a beautiful listen, such a great mood and space, love it. No words really lol.

Lovely track! great to hear some nice french heart
cool guitar sounds and great drums! there's a reason why simple chord changes are so widespread.... they just work!
made me think it could be heard on one of those indie radio stations like nts.live or a french one that I checked out for a while called FIP

j'aime que le lead m'a faite douté que t'allais te lancer dans final countdown wink

I really feel for the robot ;_;

please give the robot a hug from me.
really into the plodding sad headnod and the tasty guitars. they build in a really cool way around 3:00 mark.

for another sad robot song, check out Grandaddy's "Jed the Humanoid" if you aren't familiar. heart
best to you

Great vocals and energy. love the interplay of acoustic and electric. super dope.

Yeah, I feel that it is an interesting storyline. It actually helps to focus on a concept-story and palette of sound to create from week to week. Not sure for how long I'll stick to that, but I'll try to maybe have 30-40 mins of material before going for another style - concept.

Yeah, imagine your best robot friends not wanting to reboot... would be pretty bad right? smile

I don't expect anything with those tracks, but I'll release them as a concept album with some minor tweaks later this year. Won't do any "marketing" but it will be available on all the platforms, so we will see if it can live a bit out of WB platform... And yeah, we are so much used to those chord changes that it is it much easier to get melodies over it as well. I am ok with it. I don't mind a 4-4 song using common chords. It is still "MY" acoustic drums on the garage and my playing over it so kind of original on its own...
Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks!

That buzzy trash guitar melody is like brass / trumpet solo! Great hook. Robots be damned!

Love the pace and grungy/sldugy feel of the guitars and drums.  Poor Robot feels throughout.  Vocals sound great too.  Oh and the guitar solo is super thick.  That wall of sound is super appreciated.  Well done!
