Je voudrais être un surfer

By djippy on June 12, 2022 7:15 pm

There are actually some surfers here in Montreal that surf the St-Laurent (doing stationary surf on perpetual waves...)

Of course it is not part of our culture, most of the kids ask to play hockey on the winter, basket-ball on the summer.

This track is a surf rock song where I do speak about wanting to surf. But I don't find the time yet to start. The Habitat 67 wave from the attached video is actually pretty close from where I live so I should start, but life, kids, job, etc... Excuses (You can listen to my track that have this title, you'll understand)

Happy surfing guys...

Excellent job with that surf-rock vibe. The spring reverb sounds really good on the guitar. Drums sound really tight too.

Haha the video is awesome! Where I live, we get one day of snow if we're lucky (though a couple of hours of train takes us the snowy mountains) and some of my colleagues in the Phillippines have never even seen snow. Different countries, different lives, different experiences. What a big world it is and so little time to do it all. I need to list the surf in Montreal as one of them!

Un bon beat sur ce track et les paroles m'ont fait rire. Ce cote un peu desabuse, legerement absurde. L'avion qui decolle apres le billet sur le costa rica etait une super bonne touche!

You're bringing the new surf culture to Montreal.  I don't think the Beach Boys surfed either smile Grooving to these surfy guitar tones and double snare hits! Cool vocal style as well.  I like the doubled up parts.

WB def needs more surf-rock vibes again!  This was a fun listen.  The guitar sounds great with your vocals.

this is so cool - i want to ice surf now too!!!

There are quite a few skateboarder and snowboarder in the area (even if we do not have that many nice mountains close), but surf will grow for sure. There is as well a community of whitewater kayaking, with some "playboat" surfers.

Thanks! Might do some other surf rock vibes tracks this year. Those are pretty fun to do.

Just come here in the winter and do it!!!

I never know what to do with a spring reverb. You've made excellent use of it here. This vibes really nicely with previous week's track, too.
