Boson Bop

By Disposable Planet on February 8, 2026 4:30 pm

Keeping with the LSDJ and the elementary particle theme, this week is dedicated to bosons, which are not a specific particle but rather the category of elementary particles that governs energy or forces in the standard model.

Kept this one pretty straightforward and cheerful.  Some panning in the simple intro.  The bass is driving and not very complex.  The melody is using the same stepwise table that oscillates between duty cycles each time the note is retriggered to create an organic sound to the lead.  Lots of bends and vibrato and a few pitch drops at the tail end of long notes.   There are some pseudo delayed arps set up at a 2 step delay in the middle.   Also it slows down to ska tempo for the breakdown which has a funky bassline using the same electric slap bass LSDJ patch I've used before.  Nothing fancy, just a solid chiptune trying to evoke some happy overworld video game theme vibes.

Thanks, as always, for listening!

awesome gif!  not too far away from the kinds of images that are serving as inspiration for the new LSDJ album cover!

Thanks so much for the kind words!

awesome energy and track. for some reason my crazy brain drew a line between this and Chvrches ft. Wednesday Campanella's "Out of my head". probably partly because of emily's gif.

so thank you for the inspiration for a future week. ill make something inspired by this and out of my head!

this is a great one - came back today to listen again big_smile

Awwright, we're up to Boson now!  With a melody that is equal parts expressive, almost-absurdly-clean-for-lsdj, and distinctly DP.

The change-up around ~2:08 is Keygen Gold, my friend.

thanks! I only have one boson left in the potential track names list for the new album and then I have to start making more fermion songs

This goes so hard right off the hop. What a banger.

Love it, bud - you're still killin' it every week!

Loving the energy, whether they be photons, gluons, or even the hypothetical graviton.

Thank you!  This one took quite a while to fall together.  Usually when I start on a weeklybeat its about an hour before stuff starts to materialize into something coherent but this took much longer.

Ay thanks.  See you in New Haven and the Bitdown in a few weeks.  Can't wait!

Hell yes.

The gluon is coming soon.   This next week (today) will be the Higgs Particle.   I've been focusing mostly on the bosons instead of the fermions but I've even got some antimatter in the plans!   Thanks for listening as always!

Loving all your elementary particle tunes. Keep it going!

Can't wait for the supersymmetry arc.

Thanks for the support!  Yeah this week (week 7) marks the halfway point.  I’ve got 10 tracks planned and 5 are done.  8 different particles, half boson and half fermions then a single song for each category of particles.  Gonna make it into a concept album

That’ll be a separate EP lol
