Square Mud

By Devieus on February 25, 2024 5:57 pm

Unlike last time, I didn't even do the title for this. I did rename the file though.
We were sick this week and rather than putting in much effort, did the thing Anamanaguchi does and just have the lead sync with the guitar.
They are not the best, but they did manage pop status.

This week's song was fundamentally done last time I was around back at the Pixel Dungeon song and no one picked it up, which is good because I was very sick this week and that really fucks up the creative flow
Coincidentally I came up with two new ideas in the meantime
One of which will be next week's song, a lullaby for my boyfriend who suffers from insomnia
I'm not a psychologist, but I know it's not good and I want him to know we always love him and we're always willing to help however we can, even when unavailable
But that's for next week, ideally

I'm very much enjoying your chipmetal!!! Is the guitar a synth or do you play an actual guitar for this?
I hope you and your boyfriend feel better, each one from your respective ailments!!!

It's a boss fight and I'm down to my last heart!

Y'all managed to create a rather unique style combining chiptunes with heavy guitars! The next step would be some vocals, I envision some Gregorian chant-like stuff.. but it's vocoded.

nice combination of textures and sounds here with the rich tone of the guitars and the purer, crystalline chip sounds

The chord progression has a persevering sort of anthemic feel to it.  mw1618 had a good vision too it def has that last heart boss anticipation to it as well.  Also yay birds! smile

Ha, this would be great

Like the effects at 1:34. Definitely boss fight vibes

I hope you feel better soon!! Some sexy squares here smile

It's an actual guitar, we still can't quite get the sound out of it we want, but we're trying.

I feel much better, it's just a cold. His is probably going to take a while.

I can see that. Maybe I can pull up spitfire for it.

The guitar is the mud, the chip is the square.

I salute these birds. The chord progression was really just slamming a barre, and slamming downwards didn't really work, so it became this instead.

Guess I'll have to put it in the notes now.

Only the sexiest squares will help with recovery.

I like the mud, it has therapeutic virtues.

hope you get some rest and feel better!

This sounds like when two YouTube windows start playing simultaneously but it kind of works and you keep listening to see where it goes because you're enjoying it! smile

It's kinda metal. I rocked out in my own way. Syncing of the two is good.

That's pretty spot on. A mashup of a sort.

Great track! I've been wanting to do some guitar with chip leads, so this is inspiring!

insomnia is such a beast
wishing ya'll rest

Walls of thunder! Hope you're feeling better this week.

The synth + guitar totally rocks, what a great sound. 1:12 was such a "whooaaa" moment haha, very cool.

It's just him with insomnia, but we all could use some will wishes.

Glad you enjoy it, that was definitely the reaction it wanted, even slowed the song down a bit just to hit it home with the buildup.

This is really hardcore mudhoney. Glad to have birdy in the mix too.  Keep on rocking.

You could say it's got a nice buzz.
I refuse to stop rocking and so do the birds.
