Power Slog

By Devieus on June 16, 2024 8:00 am

This was a bit of a rough week. Ebrit started on it, Raioh worked on it, I finished it. It's rather unpleasant, especially since it wasn't just us 3 this week, but it's Sunday and it's been a slog on its own already.

The song itself is a slog, too. It feels slower than it is, but it's still a decent time. Not all slogs are a burden. Sometimes it's just fun being together, even if no one can really tell what key this is supposed to be in.

that key change/random minor chord at 2:00 was sick (As is the whole song)

Dude... the birds? Did I miss them?
Maybe it's my ignorance but I don't know anyone else mixing chiptune with metal and I find your flavor quite unique! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much, there's some very cool bits and bobs here for sure. Most of it unintentional.

I may have missed unmuting them, but we can say they're stuck in the mud. I can probably try to get them out for another version if people want them desperately enough.
There've been others before. If you don't know Kubbi, and I recommend you do, you can check out Anamanaguchi.

Wow! Good recommendations, especially Kubbi! Thanks!

Chipmetal: this is awesome. Loved the feel of riffing seen through an 8bit lens. The cut to half time and the spread of the sound at 3:15 is EPIC.

I can feel the gewd slog in this.  Trudging thru what is necessary and getting the job done.  The sonic quality between the synths and guitars really fills the mix nicely.  A triumphant sound especially with those marching/rolling snares.  Well done!

Sounds like a medieval chiptune rave, those power chords rock. The little guitar bridge was super cool.

Loved the weaving together of the synth lines, and yes the balance between synth and guitar is quite harmonious. Great work, team heart

Sorry that it was a rough week sad hope the next week feels better. The track was fire though.

Gotta do something to liven up the monotony, at least from production stand point it gets a bit boring. This then translates and amplifies in listening back, so it's like a secret weapon.

I like filling my boots with the sonic mud. Really get it in there.

That was an honest mistake, I accidentally recorded the progression one loop too long, twice, so they became the bridge and the outro. Remember, recycling is good for the environment.

Another week down, time to work on the next (it's a solo project and it's already done at the time of writing).
Thank you for listening.

It's not really, but I'm rolling with it. Music does help a lot with it at least.

your tracks often feel triumphant to me, this one def does - despite the slog. slog on!

*i also really like when everything drops down to just the guitar  \m/

liked this chord progression and the sloggy tempo

It's the almighty slog of triumph, the victory parade, slow, but glamorous.

It's a very nice progression, not sure if the guitar part is coming through well enough in it, but it's doing its part.
Slow is nice, really lets you savor the gravity of the chords.
