Off the Chain

By Devieus on May 29, 2018 8:29 pm

It's actually not off the chain at all, it's still very much subject to the Markov chain as usual. I just tweaked it is all. It's much more half-note weighted, so it'll feel a little slower, more thoughtful.

It's a pretty good way to refill my creative juices for next week.

Nice, yeah this one is indeed a bit more reflective and thoughtful. I feel like a procedurally generated melody like this would be great for a really ultra chilled ambient soundscape. Very cool man, I quite like this heart

Definitely more chilled out. I like the slower pace. I realize this is utilizing the Markov chain but the melody sounds like eastern or Asian influenced music. Very cool!

I should look into that. Right now the tempo goes between 120 and 150, but there's no reason I can go below that one way or another.

The melody writing part is still done by a normal distribution, the Markov chain is just for note lengths.

nice ballad. there is volumedrop in the middle. was that done on purpose or by volumegenerator?

I get mellow and positive vibes from this smile

There is no volume generator, that's the reverb kicking in.

Love those alien folk-music vibes.

Very approachable and friendly--enjoying the major key feeling of this one.

Glad you enjoy it, it seems it worked then.

There's even a dance to go with it, but you need a zublex to do it.

It's very much harder than you'd think. There isn't much of a resolution going on at any point so the key tends to shift between C major and A minor (and a whole lot of others in between like D dorian and F lydian).

It does give off a happy vibe and along with onezero's gif kind ofmakes me want to go out and build some sort of weird gadget.

the reverb coming out was very nice

Go free and create, perhaps you can record it and use it as a background instrument.

Thanks, I thought it maybe have been a bit hamfisted, but it definitely breaks the monotony.

I always get very enjoyable nostalgic vibes from your procedural work, as it reminds me of some of the jingles and themes that would play on my V-Tech Socrates I had as a kid. Good times and good memory triggers smile

nice composition again.

this makes me think of Frank Zappa in medieval times smile  Great and tricky piece...

This was very chill and relaxing, nice work!

There's more where that came from, so don't let go of those nostalgia goggles just yet.

Yes, quite. The machine has done a fine job.

Yea, I can see that. I guess that's a good thing to aim for.

That's definitely what I was going for. Way more half notes and some snappy fillers.

Simple but effective. I'd like a higher pitched layer!

I can arrange for that to happen.
