Muzakal Flourish

By Devieus on April 12, 2018 6:23 pm

So this is an odd one, I had the idea for this song for a solid few weeks prior; that is to say the first eight bars were imagined a few weeks back, after that I instantly drew a blank.

So naturally the next step was to add drums, can't go wrong with those, only to draw another blank straight away.

shit

So next I did what no other sane person would do and place a MIDI compliant sound font and connect the patch number to a random automator and see what instrument it would land on, that's how the organ came in. Then I just added the sting for the flourish and let the elevator music just carry the rest of the song.

Honestly I can do the rest of the WeeklyBeats with just those 8 bars because of how solid of a foundation it is, so hit me up if you want the files.

The sting really seals the deal for me :3

I think this is the first time that a song without vocals makes me laugh. I can envision the elevator very well. This track's ability to create a mental image is really impressive, great job.

It's catchy and kind of uplifting actually.  Puts me in a good mood.

Ayyyy, and you've got that high-pass you were talking about when I made my muzak wink Very cheerful and just the right amount of cheese

It's great, and it's taken me long enough to use one, even though it's so simple.

It's ridiculous, it's silly, and it's taking you to the second floor. Thanks.

I certainly hope so, it'd be terrible elevator if it didn't bring you up. Enjoy your good mood.

It's essential to the cheesy atmosphere. It's not as involved as yours, but I wasn't really going for pure muzak either.

Had a music teacher who made muzak professionally, so this makes me think of him lol

The muzak feel is spot on, nice and bright! Reminds me a little of 'The Girl from Ipanema''s first few bars

Great track. That beginning is great and the reverb on the snare is perfect.

You should show him this, or anyone really.

It might be because of the bossa feel to it.

I pride myself in my reverbs, so thanks (see also the salt analogy I made a few weeks back)

Perfect elevator feel and sound! I am now elevated :-)

very animated music and has a great postive vibe smile

Really a good mood song!
And indeed the 8 bars give a solid foundation

Agreed!  I quite enjoyed that fact.

Stick around, this thing goes both ways. This song is as good going down as it is going up.

It's what the world needs.

It's very pliable, there's definitely more stuff that can be done with it.

I didn't keep it on, of course. I should do that some day though.
I still think it's the bossa feel of it.

Random comment: I also appreciate how consistent you are in listening and giving feedback to everyone!  It seems like every track I listen to and comment on, you've already left a comment.  You're a great community member! smile

I like the fuzziness of the foundation. Kinda reminds me of some zydeco music. Nice!

Thanks!
I leave a comment on every song I like regardless of whether they have and I make it a point to listen to every song every week, which is becoming increasingly easier as fewer and fewer people remain.

A surprisingly solid foundation. I fancy it more to be like a bossa nova myself.

Interesting story and definitely a happy uplifting track.  It kind of reminded me of something Mark Mothersbaugh might make for Pee Wee's Playhouse smile

You are the hero WeeklyBeats needs!

I imagine this track can work in a bunch of shows.

And also the one it deserves.

This way lies madness.

... And we've reached the top floor of Hotel Ipanema ... watch your step, and enjoy this mai tai. Sometimes 8 bars is all you need. Reminds of Girl from Ipanema.

You and two others. I can see it from the point of view of the genre, but little more beyond that.

You'll want to get to the third floor.

Awesome Muzak sound. You got the EQ down perfect. Cool how it all comes together.  Starts with the Muzak sound but gets a little Disney Electric Light Parade-ish in the middle, all while maintaining a saucy swagger. Also, like the aspect of chance you throw into your productions!

Decisions are hard to make sometimes, so if you can offload that responsibility to random chance the whole process becomes so much easier.
The EQ isn't that hard, put a high pass on anything and it'll become elevator music, but you're right about the Disney magic.
