snow pt2

By ddmm64 on January 14, 2024 11:05 pm

Another snowy weekend, another gloomy, slow tempo track. Struggling already hmm I started with some other ideas but instead I ended up fleshing out a draft I started a while back, based on a handful of one-shot samples from a MegaFM (including the guitar-ish lead, the sonic bass and the pad at the end). Everything done on the M8 tracker.

Oooohhhh I like how cold and chilly this begins. "Snow" is definitely the right title here. Awesome job with the sweeping bass strings that kick in around 0:48!

Thank you! It's a pretty characteristic FM bass sound that I love, and I think sounds pretty good especially on the older, crunchier synths like the megadrive. I've made a few versions of that sound on the M8 as well with the FM engine and the FM macrosynths (where the redux and degrade come in handy).

very confident track, i enjoyed how it unfolded never lost my interest

got a good melty-feely quality to it heart

It's like snow, but for robots. Very much has that 70s sci-fi dystopian movie sort of vibe, and that makes it very cool

There's serenity to this, through the gloom.

For me personally, there is something extremely nostalgic about the sound palette here. I love this one!

love that FM so much
