man only eats mac and cheese

By ddmm64 on August 11, 2024 11:52 pm

was playing with some samples from my crusty cz101 on the m8 and came up with a cheesy tune. lxr02 on drums with some cz230 samples for extra casio flavor. also noticed should've left a couple of extra seconds at the end there woopsies

there is something about this track that makes me ready to start learning. like it's the main menu music to some 90s CD-ROM encyclopedia or something.

i don't think it's cheesy any more than some menu music from mega man is cheesy. like you're going to rock out to this the first time and the 500th time you hear it.

Cheesy, mac n cheese - I get it haha. This is tight! I get Animusic vibes from this. Kind of like mwmwmw is saying. This feels like an intro to a 90's television learning program. Oooh! Or like How-It's-Made vibes. Really cool sound palette!

Nothing wrong with tasty cheese.

This is great! The sounds are just dated enough to lean into timelessness. It gives the impression of being of an era without clearly defining that era. The opening pad is great! Don't just me for seriously enjoying this. Maybe I just like quality cheese.

big fan of mac and cheese over here, from powder cheese in a box junk to the GOOD STUFF with toasted bread crumbs and multiple fancy cheeses. god, i'm so hungry now.
also a big fan of this track! the sounds, the groove, the sparkly melodies... all of it.
this is THE GOOD STUFF

Cheesy yes... but it's amazing what a well placed delay and some reverb can do though right?  When those bell tones come in around 1:30... tasty cheese for sure...

You know I remember watching a documentary about a person who only eats Mac'n'cheese... it was actually like crazy to see how much it impacted his life... like physical health aside... kind of a fascinating watch... [url=https://youtu.be/v1TWvXwgKr0?si=2fc3jwnNH2uheBLS]link for the interested[url]

love the casio sounds, that bell melody is super catchy and had me nodding along to the groove.  The drums get off to a great start too.  Def gives me some late 90s vgm vibes and i wanna play the game to this now smile  The lil lofi drum fill really makes the melody stand out.  awesome work!

I am very curious why you chose this title, hahahaha... The tune is great!!! The pads in the background do a great job at, well, tone-setting (pun partially intended). And the plinky music-box melody fits super nicely. Well done!!!

now i want mac and cheese, this is very effective, and sounds cool to boot!

Thank you, I can hear that documentary/90s TV sound - I think it's those CZ ensemble strings and vibraphone preset patches big_smile. The CZ can make more modern-sounding timbres but for me there's definitely something in the plasticky psudo-analog sound of the presets. And absolutely, at the end of the day I love all kinds of cheese, including the food variety wink. Even if some more cynical part of me kinda worries about being kitschy I can't avoid it.

Actually about the title... I saw it as a headline a while back. I didn't read the article, but the title just randomly stuck in my head.  It must've been the same person in that documentary Napear linked  (I assume ...). And the idea of only eating mac and cheese felt silly yet comforting quality to it at the time, which I felt fit the track.

Watching the documentary, seems like its more of a mixed bag in reality!
