Interlude

Was a bit busy with moving this week so didn't have the focus to make something satisfactory. Instead i spent some time experimenting with vocal processing, and synths. Here's a small piece here

This is a fun track. What did you use for vocal processing?

It's a cool experiment.  Those are some crazy vocal sounds and the synth part complements them well.

Wish it went a little longer. Dig the vocals and hope you'll play around with them some more in future tracks. smile

2nd that question.  This is cool as hell and I'd love to learn what you did.  This totally sounds like the kind of thing Bon Iver would do.

Nice work! I hope your move went well smile

I had a regular vocal chain going with the usual stuff (compressor, de-esser, eq, short reverb bus, long reverb bus, delay bus, chorus bus).
The real secret sauce was layer the vocals with several takes. I had 4 takes on each side. Some of them were harmonies, some were just repeats of the main melody to try to thicken it. On some of the vocal tracks I also lowered the formant to give it a deeper feel. Then I turned the auto-tune all the way up haha.

I found that sometimes If you try to do a artificial harmony, which is using a take with the same main melody, and pitching it up 3-5, and adjusting the formant, you also could get a nice futuristic sounding of harmony.

The last part was something I did on the fly. I merged all these layers into one track, and then duplicated them into two other tracks where I would pitch one up an octave and one down an octave. Then add more reverb on top and level till satisfied.

I think if I knew how to add even more harmonies, it would feel even more greater in depth.

Thanks! Def want to do more stuff like this this week or the next

I can dig it. Definitely needed to be a bit longer.

This sounds really great, lovely atmosphere

This is really cool, love the morphing and evolving vocals.  It sounds like the way that gentle waves feel.
