The Set Sun

Happy Week 42! Definitely procrastinated on getting started this week until it was a bit too late. Had a loose structure for a track I thought would be easy to flesh out and record but had some trouble with timing/latency again and couldn’t push through. Either my own sense of rhythm/timing is rapidly deteriorating (oh god >.>) or it’s something simple like my computer is getting old or I’ve accidentally changed some settings in Logic without realizing it.

Flipping through old unfinished tracks, this was one where I got stuck after the first “chorus” section. Was able to noodle out the last bit today and get a quick one-mic recording. I have an old Logic file of the first part with some layers/instrumenation, but didn’t give myself time to give this treatment to the whole track. It’s a bit of a slow burn, tbh I’m just here for the loud parts lol

The best male vocal performance on Weeklybeats since 2014. (I didn’t participate 2012) this might be not enough for you, but I see a gold nugget here. You just recorded an epic track. Why is there so much garbage out there, what they call music, when you do this easygoing with just one mic? Really awesome. Respect. Love it. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

"There’s doubt, there’s burned and there’s burned out"

ok, i may need to go lie down.
very moving song and performance/ recording.
your voice sounds so good in this lower register, and then it takes off when you jump up higher. very inspiring. heart

*i sincerely doubt you are losing your timing! sounds to me like some kind of buffer / latency setting. i've also noticed something similar when i have plugins activated that take up more CPU.
i'm selfishly glad we got to experience the song in this form though!

Will admit, I teared up on this one. Just incredible. Amazing depth of expression in those vocals, and the songwriting's incredible as always. heart

We don't hear your low registers often! Fantastic. The lyrics end on a positive note, but the way there is quite emotional. Good stuff.

If you need help debugging your latency situation, I'm happy to help. Jump on the Discord and we'll figure something out.

Wow. I don't think I realized how wide Your vocal range is. Started making me think of M. Ward. Masterfully executed. It didn't feel like a slow burn at all. I was pretty immediately drawn in.

Line by line the your lyrics really hit me hard on a personal level. A lot similar thoughts been buzzing in my mind all this year.

Another Cursory song added to my favorites.

Oh man, just lovely.  I can almost hear a crackling fire and distant frogs... like this song just sounds like a perfect memory of summer night.  I'm sorry you had to struggle with tech issues... those are the worst... but man, this song hits pretty hard as it is.

chills... so beautiful cursory!

Oh, man that's a lovely song. Great performance and recording!

Oof! This is beautiful.  The chord progression with the guitar and your vocals have such a calming sound. So sorry to hear about the latency issues, that can always be so frustrating.  You def smacked it in the face with this beauty tho.  Always enjoy your lyrics as certain lines always hit me.  "Time’s tides will wash night from every day"  Awesome work!

whoa. This is brilliant and beautiful. The lyrics are amazing and the vocal delivery matches. Like wow. *round of applause, standing ovation*

ooooh, sounds so good. Wonderful vocals, always love your singing. Giving me a good moment to just pause and listen
