Ship of Theseus

By Cursory on April 19, 2026 7:22 pm

Saved this one from half-written purgatory smile Higher ratio of writing to recording this week, both due to figuring something out in a weird tuning and aiming to be a bit more precise with lyrics. Maybe future ambitions to flesh out more of an arrangement for this tune? Honestly wanted to throw something else together quickly to avoid posting this in its current state but here we are. Apologies if parts are a bit shrill, I had to crank up a pretty quiet recording and also chose to run it through an amp sim lol

Incidentally, this track, process-wise, was a bit of a Ship of Theseus >.>

Had to look up Ship of Theseus - learned something new today! I have heard of Locke’s Sock which is kind of a similar thought experiment. But if you replaced all the ship parts with sock parts, you’ve probably changed it too much. 😕

Beautiful song, by the way. Glad it made it across the finish line!

so so so beautiful, love when you sing in your higher register!

Beautiful.

the guitar is so soothing and lovely heart your vocals sound great!  A beautiful song!

All I see, and all I hear
Shaping me asea
Who will I be when you leave?

heart

I got lost in this. Lovely picking and singing.

The nice part about being behind on my WB listening is that I have a stack of Cursory songs to enjoy.

Ship of Theseus or not, the outcome we get is welcome smile

Hope you are doing well!

^this

what a lovely paradox of a song

i had to look up ship of theseus - somehow knocked loose the story of "burt dow - deep water man"
