Last Forever

Sometimes it feels funny sharing "singer-songwriter" music on here in the context of all the impressive production, arranging, etc I hear every week from you lovely folks. That said, a lot of the music I connect with most seems to be of the "4 chords and the truth" variety, so here I go. The pendulum seems to always swing back - last week I felt a bit too maximalist about my approach, so this is just one take of guitar/vocals. Keeping it simple.

The simple ones are sometimes the prettiest. This is a great example of that in action. Your guitar / vocals go great together and serve the sweet lyrics well. Great work!

listen, we're only using beepity boop machines because we WISH we had the talent to wring and play and sing beautiful music ourselves. you're playing with feeling here, your vocals are heartfelt, and i love the repeat at the end for emphasis. i also really dig the lo-fi production here, it sounds really good and doesn't NEED anything else.

another great Song from you! really nice recording here. i'm curious what vocal mic you are using, it really sounds nicely matched to your voice - those lower register notes sound so crisp and clear.

Haha you're too kind smile I think they're all (guitar, voice, beepity boop machines) tools we figure out how to use to suit our purposes. People on here describe their workflow and devices they use and I know I'd be helpless trying to make music the same way. Like you used "Digitakt + 0-coast + Dreadbox Nymphes + Poly Beebo" this week - I know what none of these are haha. But I do appreciate the sentiment.

Thank you, much appreciated! I just have 2 Shure SM57s, one for vocals and one for guitar. Truly the workhorse microphone.

Ah that's great, I love a 57. Definitely suits your voice, but you also clearly have a good ear for mixing.

This is just a lovely song. The vocals pulled me straight back to sitting around a dying grill on a summer night in the north woods listening to my uncle playing for the family by the lake, fireflies flashing and loons calling in the distance.  Sometimes 4 chords and the truth is all you need.

It's a simple yet heart-touching song.The vocals are amazing.

The lyrics are spot on. The gentleness of this one is a perfect match. It feels very intimate.

Many thanks smile

The variety is what's so great about this project. There's a place for everyone.
Love this song btw.
