Another Light

Unbelievably, we’re in Q4! Way to go folks, that’s a lot of music smile This is one of the other tracks I started last week, I had the pad, bass, and beat mostly figured out but needed more time to find melodies, lyrics, guitars, etc. A bit more energy to this track than usual for me, I think this is a “muscle” I need to keep exercising and a good contrast to most of what I’m inclined to make. Also a bit of 80s feeling (e.g. “The Promise” by When in Rome) which isn’t where I usually find myself.

Oh Wow, this is an impressive song. I can hear massive work was done into the elaboration of this track. It reminds me of some classics I know my whole life long. I cannot say exactly which references, but it is definitely very good stuff. Thank you for all the effort.

great on the crappy speaker, really opens up in headphones! a treat to hear you exploring these modes and paths this year. the threads throughout: your melodic sense, your strong narrative voice (with or without lyrics), and a gentle spirit.

the sparkles at parts (this might be the bird thing you mentioned) reminds a bit of a Cure/ New Order flourish - a wonderful thing in my book.

the syncopated guitar adds a great rhythmic foil to the steady beat, and i love at the end how it rises to the final liftoff.

excellent heartfelt lyrics  heart

Always a fan of your vocals as they guide the listener to a calmer place.  Love the lil fx fills that flutter in and out especially during the 2min mark when the guitar gets to shine.  The bassline is so catchy and totally keeps the groove of the song going throughout.  The drums with their sort of frenetic feel stay in line with the guitars and your vocals reining it altogether.  +1 on the lyrics especially "stand in tune, it'd help to redefine".

Hot damn, this is so cool! I'm with Q-Rosh, this sounds impressively elaborate!!! With lyrics and everything, damn!!! Amazing!

whoaaa love all the competing layers that work great together. Vocals/vocal melody is perfect! Favoriting!

Dang this is rad. The synths add a different flavor to your stuff. Great experimenting.

At this point I'm just happy you're here with us amateurs. Man, record that shit, put it for sale, I'll put it on my playlists and will listen to that next to Kurt Vile, War on Drugs, and Destroyer.

Excellent, excellent, excellent. My only nitpicky feedback is that this is mixed a bit quiet at -15.86 LUFS.

Man, where was I this week? This is gorgeous. That whirly pad is such a cool effect - it really opens up the register and stereo field of the track!

T.T Thank you so much, this one was quite a bit of work and it means a lot.

Great on the crappy speaker is a huge compliment, I should really be testing mixes anywhere other than my headphones >.< Thank you for the very kind words, hopefully these are threads I can keep growing.

Ahhh thank you! This is really reassuring, I worried the drums were a bit too frenetic or the bass was too repetitive, etc.

Thanks so much, I don't think I've ever received so many exclamations and I appreciate it smile

Haha you are too kind. If I ever do release something this will be high on the list with the rplktr seal of approval smile I do appreciate the feedback about mixing, this is an aspect I am not very systematic about and will keep trying to work on that process.

You're just in time for me to actually reply to comments lol Thank you! I really enjoyed the pad as well, I'm not great at working the higher registers into an arrangement so this was almost a cheat code.
