Again Every Day, Every Night

Happy Week 35! Who doesn’t love a I iv ii VI progression? In my weird effects era apparently, running vocals through some pedal sims in Logic - Leslie speaker, fuzz pedal, octave pedal, and “tie dye delay.” Actually I ran pretty much all of the guitars through the Leslie and most electrics through the delay as well.
Turns out I have no idea how mixing works when everything has wonky effects. Everything gets a bit muddy as parts layer, but then, that usually happens to me anyway >.> I kept feeling like I was missing a part or two and got in a bit of a “more is more” mindset. Eventually, my computer began to revolt against the amount of tracks/effects which I took as a sign to save this song from myself and stop.

For every star you try to hold
There’s more that you’ll let go
Fear in your heart till you decide
And decide again every breath, every stride
It’s bound to happen
Crooked and misshapen
Your cosmos are breaking
In morning glow, those colors erode
If only you could catch it, hold it close
Canopy of sky visions passing by
You retry again every day, every night
This time you’ll map it
The pattern you’re wrapped in
Make sense of that magic
Carelessly laugh when
You make that connection
See all you’ve protected
When you say there’s still another way
All that’s changed and all the good you gave
When you feel a thousand miles away
All that space is just a trail blazed
You can’t see it through the atmosphere
But it seems as though it’s crystal clear
And you say there’s still another way
And you say you’ve found another way
Lean into hope, try to let go
Admire the sunset, red, orange, and yellow
Night skies may fly past, spellbound and rapt
The beauty of time passed

Vague space rambles make another guest appearance this week... it often happens for me that melody/syllables appear without a clear subject matter and I’m left trying to make it all feel intentional Space is cool so it’s as good an avenue as any to try and say stuff.
This wound up being a bit about the idea of opportunity cost (economics wooo) and finding contentment/gratitude with choices. Also thinking about the choices we don’t make just once, but reaffirm regularly through actions. That there are paths we kind of end up on as well as paths we get to choose to be on. Ending on the note of finding the beauty and the positive changes allowed by the passage of time.
