Tritonized

- Korg Triton LE
- A break
- ReaSynth (built in synth in Reaper)

Just put the final touches on this track after being away for a while.

So here we go for another "year".  After completing WB in 2012 I promised I'd never let a Weekly Beats get in the way of life again... so I'll do it when I have time and when if I feel like it.

Lots has happened since WB2016.  I'm making less music, but yet somehow managed to tour tons last year.  I think this year might see some serious changes in a migration to being an "adult".  Buying houses and shit; so I'm not sure if I'll have energy for music?   I've put a ban on buying any new equipment for now.  So it's time to make the most of what I've currently got, which includes the new Elektron Digitakt (which thus far hasn't powered up due to a hardware failure and is away being fixed!)  Should be fun and hopefully help pull me out of a bit of an emotional rut I'm in.

Welcome to all those who are new.  And greets to all the oldies.  Life is music / Music is life.

Hope everything is ok man. I have been going through some similar thoughts, can I find / make time for music anymore, is it warrantable etc. My main rule is that I won't be staying up late to finish my beats this year, and now that I'm a-lot more guitar driven it's easier to just pick up and play something and then form bits around that so yeah a very different year for me too. But I have missed this creative vibe! Nice track. Still feels very cTrix so don't let becoming an adult change who you are.

Love the tune, hazy and warm. Definitely support doing what you gotta do to be healthy and happy though!

Oh, man! THE MAN HIMSELF IS BACK AGAIN FOR ANOTHER WB !!! I sound like a fanboy, yeah, I know...

I followed some of touring on different retro computing event and podcasts, and I'm still wondering how did you managed to do it smile And looking forward to you and the mad Professor finishing that misterious Sega Saturn FM supersynth/tracker you showed on Youtube!

Ahh, and the track is awesome, by the way. Wish it was twice as long smile

And on a more serious note:

I could relate to WB interfering your daily life. I turned 40 this last October, and have to admit life is easier when you're in bed at a regular time and not struggling next morning because you coded a great Pd patch 'till 3 in the morning!

Wish you make the whole 52 because your music rocks, mate, though as a fellow "adult" I wish you stay fresh and happy and never feel music as a burden instead of a pleasure, and so if you feel like walking in the park or going to bed and f*** the deadline, so be it. Treat yourself right.

welcome back! and yeah, i can totally relate to the WB taking over as well. My plan this year is to mostly just do experimental modular stuff.. no pressure just sounds. wink

January 8, 2018 1:30 am

those lead tones match just right with the light rhythm break and the whole thing evolves really well.  fun tune!

January 8, 2018 4:20 am

Excellent melodies here, and driven along by those crispy drums too. Keep these jams flying in and out of our ears!

January 8, 2018 4:21 am

As someone with a house and a job and a wife and kids, I feel you. I've never actually completed a WB, but I've tried each time and still found it rewarding. Just do what you can and keep life in focus.

This track is great too!

Love that break!  Welcome back.  Wishing you the best, emotionally/mentally.  Hoping the music can be a catalyst for great things for you.

Life is music / Music is life.

Couldn't have said it better.

I love how the layers build up. Creation feels like such a double edged sword. I hope the chill vibes of this track reflect your experience for WB2018.

Woah.  Thanks for the comments peeps!  I didn't really expect anyone to notice this year so am very humbled.  Just spent day up in Sydney hanging with @midimachine (yo) after playing a fun little show to kick off the year.  We're both looking forward to making some tunes this year :-)

Doing a massive listen though on Wednesday to everyone elses tunes.  Can't wait!

January 8, 2018 11:13 am

hey those were some good hangs! love those old school chords and sick little breakbeats, it's like flashbulb meets the more euphoric ridge racer soundtracks. the triton pads are unmistakable, so perfect and pretty :')

January 8, 2018 11:17 am

Sweet sound
gooood

January 8, 2018 4:39 pm

This sounds like an adventure

January 8, 2018 5:37 pm

How many tracks you make doesn't matter, what matters is the will to try and be more creative this year, which you have already started partaking in from this track on.

Rock on friend!

January 9, 2018 5:30 am

Holy crap that melody and it's accompanying pads. Wow.

January 9, 2018 7:06 am

Nice work smile

January 9, 2018 7:31 am

Excellent breaks that give way to a super-sunny synth lead.  Good to see ya back and here's to a good 2018! smile

January 9, 2018 7:39 am

dang. i remember hearing that humming bass on a clip you threw in the group chat or FB. that makes the whole vibe for me.

January 9, 2018 7:49 am

Dope track!! Great to have you back for another year, man. Looking forward to hearing your amazingness on a regular basis! big_smile

January 9, 2018 1:08 pm

Love how the Latin influence in the beats contrasts with the DnB break. Nice balance in the synth textures - just enough gritty rubberiness offset by the smoother pads. And the solo is ace. Great start to the year.

January 9, 2018 2:03 pm

I love this floating feeling and beautiful chords!

January 9, 2018 5:43 pm

Top notch.

January 9, 2018 6:28 pm

nice chillTrix track dood!  those plucky stabs make the tune if you ask me.  yeah i'm treating WB2018 much more casual this time around too, i still wanna participate in some capacity but i also got projects to finish and life to live =P

January 11, 2018 4:58 am

always happy to see you here! I sincerely hope you will always find time to make music, but that's just me being selfish wink

To me WB has always mostly been about motivation, having a excuse to stop and make something. I have no ambition of doing it each week and no intention of stressing over it, but still appreciate the context to express myself and exchange with other talented people!

last few things I heard from you always have this carefree summer vibe :3 ironic! wink

January 13, 2018 4:34 pm

great track! Very open.  So glad to see you're back! Have been listening a lot to your music last year! This one goes into my ipod again! smile

I really love your unique take on the harmony, manages to sound like the best team sonic compositions but with a unique mood and phrasing that only you seem to be able to pull of
