The High Life (WB01)

By cTrix on January 8, 2012 2:16 pm

Ok - welcome Week 1!  This tune took about 2 1/2 days but on my final day of tweaking / writing (today) I had major major EMS USB cart fail - the f**ker just would not power up!  Finally got it working in an old non-prosounded Gameboy DMG so it's hissy as hell but I hope you enjoy all the same.

EDIT: With monumental effort I managed to get a prosounded Gameboy to read the cart! (once)  High quality download at http://syntaxparty.org/weeklybeats/cTri … ife-V2.mp3

Love it, Chris.

I have to say I really like this.

This is sick dude. So chill.

Good stuff.

Nice one, very cool smile

This is great. I can't wait to hear more from you

I actually like this more than your harder LSDJ stuff.  Really nice.

Love those arps. Always jealous of ex(?) demosceners making chip sound so full

Tasty, very classy!  Nice work.

Nice song!

yes

This is an awesome tune but I wish to register a protest at the lack of "house".

^5, love it

cool

I've only heard some live recordings of your dance oriented amiga stuff before. Good to hear you have a great sense of melody! It's also the most agreeable chord progression yet (starting from the top).

Oh that's a nice fill. You know which one I'm talking about.

heart

How do you do such deep and clear bass? Mad jealous.

awesome man, it dosnt sound bad either for not being a pr0s0unded gameboy - Mine sounded like a white noise generator before I prosounded it.

Everything is like at volume 2 or 3 if that helps!  Except the kick - which is on 3 with a slightly squared sine using a table to do the dive.

>>awesome man, it dosnt sound bad either for not being a pr0s0unded gameboy
This particular one is on the waiting list for a prosound.  It was just a good egg. And also it apparently plays rooted carts!

Thanks heaps for feedback!  I'm doing my best to listen to every track.  I'm so blown away with what I'm hearing!!

Man, I really like your melodies when you leave the amiga for a while and go for the dmg!

Second part of track is awesome!

Holy crap!  I love it!  So joyous, so chippy!

>> Man, I really like your melodies when you leave the amiga for a while and go for the dmg!
:-)  Thanks Pulselooper!  This is much more the "musical" me than the fun party Amiga tracks I make.  Hopefully will explore what I can do with more than 4 tracks later in the year, but for now I'm terrified of the prospect of unlimited tracks.

>>Second part of track is awesome!
This is generally what happens to my composition style once it ticks past 2am!  It was one of those "noooo... don't go on a tangent!!" moments

CHRIS! Man, just when I thought I'd gotten burned out on the game boy sound chip, you go and squeeze something totally fresh out of it! This is exactly what I needed to hear this morning. Cheers!

bangin

Nice Trippy Melody! Also like the second part more Noisy!!
I feel like i'm playing my old Sega, eating my snack in my bedroom ^^

great job! mega-chip-bass indeed smile

holy moly O.o i wanna write melodies like that! awesome track dude! im digging it soooo bad!

bravo!

The first half has some good melodies over a simple yet pleasant chord progression.  I love the direction the track goes in the second half.  Over all, really well arranged; you're certainly getting the most from your hardware.

good to see you on here man. This song has such an authentic feel. It's like a lost track from kirby's dreamland. Awesome stuff.

what, Protracker giving way to Octamed?? xD

Yep, very cool stuff. Weaves it's way beautifully. Very clever arrangement.

Excellent, keeps you guessing too. Always like that. And the second half, love it even more!

Man, that

you make me want to sell my lsdj cart because i'll never track this well. smile

Thank you so so much for your comment on my little song smile It meant a lot coming from an idol like you! this is great dude, congrats smile

lots of talented chipbros here, this is dope as hell

I love that chip sound that you used near he beginning; the slight vibrato and the way the notes mesh is awesome. Also some great bass.

Sick tune man!

Damn the solo lead is melodically so rich! Well done!

chiptune talent. great as always.

just wow!! awesome!!

Ah another superb gameboy track. You stand out.

Awesome big_smile
